Mitchell SD to Peoria Illinois yesterday, it's amazing what dry roads can do for travel time. Heading to Kokomo IN to see some friends then off to PA.

Just got done with a 1050 mile deadhead from Portland Or to Colton Ca just to hear, "they are working on getting you a load, hang tight." Last time I heard hang tight, it was 24 hours worth of hanging. I just called my FM and told him, "24". He asked me what that means, I told him I'm 15 miles to Ontario airport, and then 9 miles to West Palm Beach airport at the other end. It wouldn't be the first time I check called from the house with the truck at a truck stop, in another state, on the other side of the country.

I must say this though, Shane, my new FM is a pretty cool dude to work with. I have absolutely zero complaints or issues working with him, in fact, one of Abilene's shortcomings is there ability to keep the driver informed and in the loop, Shane goes out of his way to keep me informed. For me that's a biggee, I've been through 6 FM's this year, and through all of them, I haven't lost one penny of earnings. So, as you can tell, my issues are personal, not company, I just like things done my way.... lol

I was a recruiter for the Navy there for 3 years. Made some good friends there so I thought I'd stop by on my way through. ;)

I almost had to be a Navy recruiter once. They was forcing everyone going to shore duty be a recruiter. I was let of the hook at the last minute. They had more then they needed.

I'm just happy I didn't have to do it. I was going to be stationed in Canton Ohio, which was my choice. I had already had my stuff shipped out. I'm just glad they told me before I checked out of my apartment. I stayed in Mayport Florida for
another four months. I had to use an air mattress the whole time.

Sometimes it bothers me that I left TransAm without giving it a chance. Just a little something that irks me from time to time.
