If you have,or can get a tanker/haz-mat endorsement,Houston/LaPorte area has several trucking companies that get in and out of the area on a regular basis. Many chemical plants and refineries in that area.Also,haz-mat/tankers pay a little better.

Texas has a lot of freight. Unfortunately they have more inbound than out.So it's a lot of cheap freight

    It's sounds very strange,
I mean if you're very flexible, want to go pretty much anywhere. You shouldn't have any trouble to find a load.
Before I wrote this, I looked at major load boards and every one of them has some loads.
Of course it'll take some skills to negotiate right price, but other than that I think the problem might be a little more deeper than just finding a load.
Maybe your trucking company or authority holder has a bad reputation, ( late on appointments, canceled loads, or a safety scores are bad enough for brokers to avoid such a carrier.

Everybody's numbers are different just because the loaf works for one truck doesn't mean it will be a profitable load for the other.

That's a fact, what are you needing to be profitable or feel good about the load?

Better lease to a major carrier and be done with it. Mercer or Landstar comes to mind. You live in a dead area as well as most of us do. So when you go home make sure the rate pays for you to DH out 300-500 miles. I don't pay attention to freight going into Texas on our board but I'm sure you'll do fine. My buddy pulls a Van for Landstar and the 3 times he's been to Texas he always got over 2.50 per mile (gross) leaving and only sat for a day so since you live there it shouldn't be much of a issue

MandM Mars has a place near Waco and their loads pay good. ( I assume they're still there). Pace Picante ships out of San Antoine. Oil products out of Houston area. Meat meat and more meat from Cattle yards. Ask Parkway (HEB inhouse carrier) what they haul outbound from San Antoine. They bring lots of produce back from Ca./Az. Just a couple suggestions, good luck. Sometimes the carrier has a bad reputation, so, the load choices are less than desireable.
