Hi everyone! Just recently purchased my first truck. I picked up a 2003 Kenworth T800 tri axle dump truck with a MBN serial CAT C15 @ 500hp. I want to do dual air cleaners, however... I was told I would have to buy a completely new hood and latch assembly to make this happen, since my truck stock... did not come equipped with them... is this true? Has anyone done an air cleaner install on here or might know if Im dead in the water or there is ways around not needing a whole new hood?

    Thanks! - Jay IMG_1860.jpg

Yup, to put air cleaners outside you require the split fender setup, which equals a lot of money and time.

Save your money... I don't think next summer is going to be that great.

    P.S. Nice looking truck.

I assumed this might be the case... Essentially, I find my exhaust is lot more "raspy" and "throaty" in the higher rpms, I am looking for a "deeper" noise, and also a more prominent turbo "let go" similar to these two videos:

Honestly, if you have any suggestions as to how to achieve that "deeper" exhaust as in the videos, thats exactly what I am looking for. I thought maybe the difference was because I don't have dual cleaners?

Why do you need noise? All its good for is making people mad at trucks

Nothing to do with the intake, that's all on the exhaust side.

Those trucks have no mufflers. It's cool for about 10 minutes if you don't mind being deaf in a few years go for it. They would be even louder if they put smaller diameter exhaust stacks on there. I think 7" and 8" is way too much and doesn't look right but that's just me.

Put free flow mufflers with no baffles on yours with some 6" diameter mitre cut tips on top. It will sound much better than those trucks and have a deep tone but not be obnoxiously loud.

I would forget about dual air cleaners. Just work with what you have. Looks like a nice truck. I have the same motor in mine. I would be making sure the motor was set up right first and foremost. MBN's are the ####### child of CAT but great motors just like the 6NZ if done right. How does it run? Any issues? What tune does it have?

Right. Now it has stock, but I was going to bump it to 550hp

Just straight pipe it for now. play with size later to get the deep tone you want.
