I'm in a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia. It's pretty decent. Tons of room, and great turning radius. It's getting up there in the miles though. Close to 350k, Werner gets rid of their trucks at 400k

I think pretty much all of the "Training" companies that hire CDL holders with no driving experience, they're all about the same. Some are a little better, others are a little worse. Any company you go with you will have good times and bad times. It mostly depends on what kind of trainer you get, how well you get along, how much they actually train you.. It also depends on the student, how much they are willing to learn, what their personal situation is, and what they're expecting going in. If you sign up with Werner and you don't like your trainer, you have the option of calling the student department and having them put you on the truck with a different trainer. If you get on the truck, and you don't like the way the guy talks or smells, you should get off the truck ASAP, they will route you to the nearest terminal. They'll also have you fill out a survey to review the trainer's performance. Be 100% honest in the survey, don't hold anything back. If you don't let them know there is a problem, then the issue will never be addressed, and the next student that gets on the truck with that trainer will be stuck dealing with the same problems that you failed to bring attention to.

Whatever you do, don't simply put up with problems, don't silently endure. You're expected to live on the same truck as this person for at least 2 months. If you let your frustrations bottle up, they will fester, and you will just get more and more frustrated until you reach a breaking point. Don't ever let it reach that point. If you're thinking of getting off the truck "if he does that one more time..." Don't wait, just call the student department, get a new trainer and move on. You will just ruin your experience otherwise.

Would you recommend Werner over Western Express? I am down to these two companies ONLY. So I have to make a decision. Werner have terminals nearby where as Western just have the Fontana CA terminal. Western have direct TV in their trucks but hear they are very unorganized and lie on the DAC quite often.

By all means go with the satellite tv that's what makes all the difference when you are getting acclimated to drivin truck. I like mine so much I pretty much just stopped drivin and focus on my shows.

I told my trainer, he sucked at his job, but I did it in kind of respectable way. And he was pretty terrible. Had problems with fueling and it stunk like ### in the truck. After I expressed my honest feelings towards him. I had a new trainer in 15 hours. Of course i had to find my way back to the terminal, so it took me couple hours to find a bus station and yadda yadda. My new trainer had experience, and taught everything he knew. I owe him a beer for that, he made this job very easy for me. Ive been driving 1 year and 2 months without hitting anything.
And you mentioned walmart account. Thats what I do and I love it, I live very close to dc. This is the best way to get your experience and make 55k

One thing you'll want to do is make your parents home your permanent address, that way when you claim per deim (which you should) on your taxes you won't have a problem with the IRS.

Y'all make Werner sound like the bee's knees. But, 'at least 2 months' with a trainer ? That's just crazy.

I agree. When I here that I assume it's not quality of training the company is going for.
