There is much one can learn about humility and the trials of others by sitting in the back of the bus. As an American I was often the target for corrupt police officials and buracrats at the imigration office while living in the Philippines. I saw first hand the attitude of explotation perpetrated by expats in the sex industry and the selfish rationale they used to justify their conduct.
Had I not left the comforts of safe water and a dependable power grid I'd never know what "real" poverty looks and smells like and in turn I might have succumb to the absurd rethoric of those who say, in so many words, "this country is dying and we need to make American great again".
    News flash...American IS great!

I've been to a few of the larger cities overseas, most cities in China, air thick enough to walk on. India same plus the occasional dead body in the street. Central and South America daylight crime. I actually witnessed a shootout between 2 groups of people in Buenos Aires. Things we take for granted in US clean drinking water, phone service, honest exchange rate for your money, safe public transportation? not always available. And always traffic that would make NYC or Boston or LA look like a walk in the park. Thanks but I'll take the little patch of paradise I've carved out here in AZ over anyplace I've been to so far.

You only know what I tell you on this board, other than that you have no real hard facts, and just like so many, you are all too quick to throw a judgment. You have no idea behind the reasons why I quit for real.

DAC's are not obtainable online, a written letter must be submitted. Tell me I'm wrong regarding that. Oh sure I can request it and have it sent, but there are other ways for me to know. I can call up any company, at will, and get the ball rolling and they will tell me if they will want me or not. I really do not care all that much.

So my life is over if I can't drive a truck, piss in a cup in the middle of the night, be layed over in a rest area with no real food available, wait unreasonable amounts of time for the next load, have no affordable health benefits, be around a bunch of drivers lounge low lifes or any other ######## that goes with the job? I don't think so.

You do trucking because it's all you can do or have no ambition for anything else. Period. End of statement.

Just to make sure I have this right...
You start this thread wondering why a top flight outfit like Swift won't answer your emails and it appears to you they aren't rolling out the red carpet for your return. You can't figure out how to get a call back number or your DAC and most everyone who drives is a pathetic looser. Let's not forget that American is bloated road kill. Does that sum it up?
I guess you drive not because you need the job but because your astronaut space suit is at the dry cleaners and your massive day traders portfolio is locked into a short sell and your collection of Impressionist paintings are too valuable to sell in this market.
Bless you for taking the time to post and give our simple existence meaning.

    That is REALLY so funny!

I have never pissed in a cup in the middle of the night, except to piss in a bottle so I don't have to leave the truck.
I have never lain over in a rest area without real food available, because I plan better than that.
I seldom wait very long for the next load.
I have affordable health insurance, if 50 bucks a week is affordable.
I'm never around a bunch of drivers lounge low life's, simply because I don't hang out in the lounge.
My life does not depend on driving a truck. It is what I am doing, at the moment.

As to having no ambition for anything else... that part is right.
I have no ambition. I don't think I ever have.
I'm just happy to simply be me.
    Nothing more and nothing less.

"You only know what I tell you on this board, other than that you have no real hard facts, and just like so many, you are all too quick to throw a judgment. You have no idea behind the reasons why I quit for real."

    That is true.
But unless you are honest in your statements we can judge by nothing else but what you write.

You are your own worst enemy.

Swift is one of those bureaucratic organizations where all you need to do is call another person to get something done. When I was an o/o with them, I tried to hire a driver but he was rejected because of some speeding tickets. I called around to a few managers in the safety department and got him approved mostly because those tickets were actually downgraded to a lessor offense in the courts. Try calling around to your former DMs or other recruiters to get back in if that's what you want. But, if you plan on this routine in the long term I would just save up and buy a cheap truck/trailer and run when you want to.

As for the knocking down America. You really don't know how good we have it til you spend a few months in another country living on scraps while trying to start a business, fail, and at the end you only realize most of the people in the world's positions in life are assigned at birth. That's not the case in America. Yes, there are plenty of interesting places to visit around the globe but as far as day to day living and the opportunities present I don't think another country comes close to America.

Man with your record at Swift, I would not have hired you after the second time. Only work 3-4 months then quit? I don't care what your reasons were for quitting, I would rather have some new guy that was gonna stick for a year over an experienced driver because there is a better chance that the new driver may stick even longer than that. Heck with your work track record, I would not even hire you to flip burgers.

You don't seem to like America, yet you keep coming back to get some more money. You could always move out permanently and take Alec Baldwin with you. It would be too much to ask you to take Rosie O'donnel though.

My crew made regular flights to Atsugi and Yokota, with the occasional stop in Okinawa.

Okinawa is Japan, but still a unique place. People who are born there and live there.... On average live longer than any other community in the world.

    Just a bit of trivia...
