Hey all as the title says I've been here at heartland around 90 days and just thought I'd give my 2 cents. When I started I went with a refresher. My refresher was an awesome guy, very nice and easy to get along with. When I got into my truck I went Midwest regional. Trucks are newer as they sell them after 300,000 miles, and trailers after 3 years. I've had horrible luck with trucks tho. Slept in an ice cold truck twice and have been towed 3 times. currently on my 5th truck. They are very basic single bunk mid roofs. They do have small inverters in them (450 watt I think). My biggest complaint is simply I don't get enough miles. most runs are around 250-450 miles and have loose windows on them (its 8:00 now, pick up at 15:00 go 350 miles and deliver between 20:00-23:59 tomorrow). I really wish they did long hauls...Couple weeks have been good (2500 miles ish) but that's the max. a lot of 1400-1800 weeks. I'll see how it is going forward past the 90 day mark but for now I'm not a happy camper. really wish I could just make around 1,000 bucks a week and come home to my family on the weekends....and drive a long nose pete with a stack of paper logs ahahaha

Ok. I hear prime might do ya right. From the people I know, and a friend of mine that drove for Gordon trucking. As I'm sure you're aware, Gordon is now an acquisition of heartlands .It's not a highly revered company. So pick your poison,I guess. Try prime or have a look see around your neck of the woods. I wish you all the best. Bring in the new year happy and get back in the black. You won't do it there I hear.Trucker61016 Thanks this.

My buddy was there, he would order up his next loads way early (qualcom) and stayed super busy there...Never got weekends off, he left because of it and came to LTL
-
I think my buddy said they use people net. He said it was a pain in the arse for him. Not too user friendly. They may have went to Qualcomm by now though.

My pal was a calculator addict, when they gave him the new truck governed at 67, he couldnt handle it...His 74 mph truck made him x amount of dollars more and felt they were screwing him..I think he said he went from 900 a week to 743 a week
Again, he stayed busy...
Def was on qualcomm, way different than peoplenet...He'd always use the phrase "macro 33 up some loads"
At the tucson terminal, he said when you pull in, guys wash and fuel your truck as you roll in, pretty cool
Dont remember his rate, but it was cheap like all the othersLast edited: Dec 31, 2015

Ya I thought about prime but a 62 mph truck? geez! they also want to get you on lease/purchase I hear...not really something I'm into. I am looking tho. thinking about magnum ltd out of fargo ND. all the drivers in that thread seam pretty happy
I've heard good things about LTL the only thing that's scary is going on an extra board for god knows how long -
Oh thats where your at? cool, i want to move there!!
Ya that LTL is good, better than OTR for sure..Magnum is the big game up there
I was just looking at a ND craigslist ad for a water truck driver $3500 a week, 12 hr shifts, live in truck, 3 weeks on one off..
It was out of Keene ND...oilpatch still better than LTL up there...Both good though!! -
Good luck whatever you decide. Found to bed now. Gotta get up at 430 and get rolling to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Take care. Happy new year. Stay safe.
