Hi All. I'm new to the forum. We bought a used 2011Kenworth to become CARB compliant in Ca. We deliver potable water.
First day out, lights came on to re-gen...and beeper. Stopped and did that. Second day, same thing. Hubby thought he had it figured out and it was working fine. Third day out same thing. Finished working and dropped it off at Kenworth shop. They fiddled with it so we could work the next day. 4th day same thing...finished work, dropped at shop. They had it for 3 days...baked the muffler. Picked it up. 5th day same crap...re-genned...did the trick...finished the day. 6th day...got 5 loads done, and it started doing its light thing...this time, wouldn't let hubby re-gen. Wouldn't go over 5 mph. Called Kenworth...they sent mechanic...he was going to drive it and hubby and son follow in his truck. Nope...he couldn't get it to go. Tow truck picked it up and hauled to Kenworth. Anyone having issues like this? Hubby has been a heavy equipment mechanic his whole life...so understands mechanics well...but this is mind boggling. He stopped at Kenworth yesterday to see if they figured anything out...nope. So him and a buddy moved the potable rank off the new truck back on the old 91Army truck so we can at least work. Hubby has always been able to keep our trucks going...the army truck and a 1989 Kenworth T800, but this one is being very difficult! TIA for any help.

Don't worry Bubba. There are a couple of Paccar gurus that will be around to help. Just give them some time. You have got, along with Maxxforce, the most trouble filled engine around.

Any sensors replaced?Wiringharness to DPF and DEF checked?
Did the truck ever have Eobr or qualcom in it's previous life?Do you have the maintenance records?

    Bubba ,don't worry to much.
The engine itself rarely is the problem.
The afterthreatment is a other story, what you need is a technician that knows his job.Solution is easy BUT making the right diagnostic is the real problem.

Unfortunately you just signed your own death warrant. You are stuck with that thing now unless you can find another unsuspecting victim to take it off your hands. Obviously you didn't listen to me or any other Paccar victims before you bought that mess. Here is a link to my nightmare, six months in and my truck has NEVER run more than 3 days without going back in a shop. I have had every electronic issue possible go wrong on my truck and I see no end in sight. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...w-codes-in-paccar-engine.290908/#post-4701698

I need to get hubby hooked up with this forum. I'm giving him a rest today since its New Years and the ship is closed anyway. I really appreciate all you all's replies! Thank you a bunch!

The engines run great, its not just DPF issues, its the CAN BUS system. That entire mess is unfixable (that is not just my opinion, that is becoming more and more the consensus among Paccar service techs) I have been told several times by many different shops that my best option at this point is to remove the CAN BUS system and go back to the old single wire for every gauge way of wiring a truck. That means taking EVERY SINGLE WIRE out of the truck and starting over... Rewire the entire dash including the A/C, heater, stereo, lights, gauges... EVERYTHING. That also requires an ECM hack to bypass all of the places that the engine ECM communicates with the chassis ECM and cab ECM, I got a quote for $8,000 and Im seriously considering doing it. The best part is I could re-wire it to accept any engine so in the future I will have options when this engine wears out. The CAN BUS system obviously does not allow a re-power with anything but a Paccar. You can nickel and dime yourself to bankruptcy or accept the reality that $8,000 will fix 90% of your issues with that truck.

The dealers around here are attractively discounting trucks with paccar and maxxforce engines. I almost bought one of them but I knew that one of those trucks would break me. So I bought a 2000 model freightliner. I hope I made a good choice.

Good Lord...amazing. We ONLY bought a new truck to be CARB compliant. I hate this state.
