If given the choice which would you choose and why, the company I am going to work for has Cascadias, T-680's and Pete 579's. Which would you choose and why? Please do not slam on any of them, I am not really interested in negatives.

    Thanks

If given the choice, I'd go with the Freightliner only because I hate trucks with the skinny cabs (Petes & KWs). I just hate the limited visibility when backing those. Instead of just rolling down your window and looking back, you pretty much have to open the door to get a good look. I also like the way the Cascadia's dashboard and controls are laid out. I hate the 680s. The 680s also tend to have a lot of electrical issues. I haven't driven a 579, so I can't comment on those. Do they have skinny ####pits like other Petes?

One of my close friends has a 2008 Cascadia and it's given him nothing but trouble. To me, the interior feels kinda cheap. I have driven a T680 while my truck was in the shop, and I liked how quiet it was. Not really a fan of the Paccar MX/autoshift combo though. It felt kinda limp. I have no experience with the 579 so have no opinion.

I have owned or driven Western Star 4900s, Pete 379s, KW W900, T800, T600, International 9200, 9400, 9900, Freightliner FLD 120, Classic, and Coronado, and now own a Volvo 730.

The Cascadia I had was brand new ('15) and didn't feel cheap. I think they ironed out some of those issues. I was actually surprised at how nice it was.

There are a million opinions, huh?!

Not trying to Bicker but the wiper switch on freightliners is horrible instead of on the steering column it's on the dash and the steering wheel don't tilt like the Petes and Kws.I like the skinny cabs in imo but yes backing up is harder but I'm use to it so no big deal.

As soon as you put the key in the lock you should feel a difference

Not all KW’s and Pete’s have skinny cabs. the T700 and the Pete 587 are both full width cabs.

The Pete 579 is Peterbilt's equivalent of a T680 but has more sleeper sizes available then the T680 does. Both just came out in 2013.

The T680 and 579’s are nearly a full with cabs, slightly less wide then a T700 which is a full width cab but much wider then a T660. Are you sure you are not thinking about a KW T660 or Pete 386?

@Ubu My company has several versions of KW daycabs and 95% of our drivers hate them for various reasons. I assumed they'd be nice, but I'm not a fan. Huge turning radius, weird mirrors that never seem to be able to be adjusted right, three switches for turning on your lights, sitting behind where the side windows end and blocking visibility - they just feel odd to me.

If I had my way, I'd be driving a Volvo, but we don't have any. I drove many of them over the years and they were always comfortable.
