    Hi guys,

my name is Tom. I am from Germany, but I want to move to Canada soon. My brother lives in Vancouver, BC since 2005.

I come in March/April to make my class 1/airbrake endorsement, and I know, that I have to find an employer who is able (and willing) to get a LMO/LMIA..... we will see.

Today I took a lok at Jobbank Canada to see what jobs are available and I am wondering a litte:

There are 392 long haul jobs posted and 132 of these are in BC? Can you tell me why are there so many jobes in BC an for example in Manitoba only 15?

    http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/job_search...hstring=long+haul&sort=M&button.submit=Search

    Thank you

    Tom

Jobs probably don't pay very well. BC stands for "Bring Cash" lol. I've been told trucking is pretty competitive down around Vancouver area. I think @swaan would be a good person to ask. I think he's from around there somewhere.

No offence Canada doesn't need anymore truck drivers from overseas. People only hire them for the cheap labour which drives the wages down in Canada. I've heard Europe has some of the same problems. The reason why there's so many jobs available is because they don't pay. Lots of easy Indian owned company's that there own people won't even work for the wages there offering.

And I don't think it's as easy as coming here and taking your class 1 and then finding a company to take you...

Well I suppose there are only so many local jobs. After that everything is either hauled over the mountains to the rest of Canada or south to the USA.
Winnipeg is actually a good place to get a driving job, as almost every trucking company in the country has some kind of presence there as it is the middle of the country.

Seeing as he is from Germany, he will think BC is a bargain. I spent some time working in Germany a few years ago and it was stupid expensive.

Of course, I know that BC is not a bargain - my brother lives there for more than 10 years - but I live here in Germany in an area which is also very expensive..... So this would be no change for me:D

I think you are right, but I am ready to "fight" for my dream - I had a lot of obstacles in my live, and if you really want, you can pass them. I don't expect an easy way

BC does stand for Bring Cash, but also some places are paying between .50 and up to .60c/mile.. Most of the "long haul" jobs you're seeing are only BC-AB
