I would not go to a school if you have a lot of experience driving class b vehicles. It isn't that much of a jump to an A especially if you have a lot of experience pulling big trailers with pickups or whatever.
I had experience driving dump trucks and other straight struck a as well as a ton of towing 30-40' goosenecks behind pickups but I had never even sat in the drivers seat of a tractor trailer until the day I took my road test and I passed with a 92.
If someone has no experience yes school would be a good choice and it is never really a bad idea but it takes time and money and someone with your experience may be able to get by without it.

Check Furniture company's. Not really sure which would have DCs in your area, but they normally run within a 200 mile radius. So whatever furniture stores are in your area, a DC will be somewhere within that distance. Maybe at least 1 is near you. Do not go for home delivery, unless they will train you to move to tractors. Home pays crap wages. Go for DC to store delivery.

Nick Strimbu Inc. in Brookfield has cdl training. Don't know if they have the type driving you're looking for though. Never know until you ask.
