Exactly! Either that or find a company to drive for that has a terminal or droplot in the area. I mean, there are hundreds of companies, the guy should have thought about all that before he signed onto a company where they did not have parking somewhere near where he lives. You are right, though--I mean if you live in NYC, then you should find someplace to drive for that has their own secured parking in or near NYC. As a driver, he is responsible for that truck. Unless he is parked in the company's own facility, I would be real leary about parking up to 100 miles from my house at some truck stop--but hey, if you can afford the fact that you cant drive by your truck or whatever every now and then and you are comfortable with paying for the damage that is done to it, or will be done to it--then by all means park anywhere you please!

I also have family in over populated and I love them very much, BUT, when we get together to enjoy each others company they come to the country where we don't have or tolerate DRUGS, DRIVE BYS, NEIGHBORS CALLING THE LAW, THE LAW BEING UNREASONABLE, ect. Plus we have enough dirt to park 10 trucks.

Don't let these negative posters (if you check Tim's profile, you'll see that's all he knows how to do) discourage you. You are doing what I would have suggested (research parking). If staying in NYC to be with family is your thing, then have at it. I would suggest you get an ENFORCER lock for the air brake knobs in the cab. This will insure your truck is still where you left it. If you leave a loaded trailer, an ENFORCER for the trailer doors is a good idea.

    Best of luck!

    Look, Mr. timtruck...

We've had quite enough out of you in the TMC thread and frankly, you're being a pain. As the man said, he's researching his potential parking issues now instead of having to find out the hard way later, which I think is commendable.

Then you come along and have to jump all over him.

I am running out of patience with you, now KNOCK IT OFF!!

bull, the Company you are speaking of has something in the truck called a "Quad-lock." It is a small key in the dash board. If you remove the key, you cannot release the parking brake. It is company policy that if you are on hometime, the quad lock key must be removed. No worries man, but someone here had a good suggestion about finding an impound lot or a tow yard. There is one near my house that charges local truckers $20 for weekend parking and it is secured with 24 hour security. So if you need to get the truck in the middle of the night, there is always someone there to let you in and out.
