So if the highway patrol can just decide to do a random check on truckers....Does that mean next week they can decide to do a random check on say sedans?? I think I have a problem with the cops pulling ya over just because your a semi.
-
Ever come across a DUI checkpoint?
-
Pomona CA's PD ran check-points and surprise...caught a few drunks, drivers with suspended/no licenses/no insurance and one of the city council women cried "Racism" along with half of the city's Hispanic population.
Funny thing though, there is a high incidence of Hispanics and the lack of drivers licenses along without any or adequate insurance.
Not being racist, that's a proven fact.

My point is they are singling out truckers, DUI checkpoints do not single types of vehicles. -
I have a BIT tomorrow, it's the law and it's the nature of the business. -
Commercial truck are hauling goods from state to state and is federally regulated, this gives the the right to make sure you are obeying by the regulations.... (I should of said hauling good in general, even if you don't leave the state)
Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
I'm not a trucker and I do realize its a highly regulated industry. But I still think its wrong to single them out. I just didnt know law enforcement could do that. I always thought that was what those DOT patrols did. Live and learn i guess.
Brickman Thanks this. -
When you signed up for trucking, you gave your consent to be searched.

Well I don't know if a local cop could pull a truck over for no reason.. I could be wrong, but I am almost positive that only DOT and state troopers are allowed to pull them over for no reason.. DOT and state troopers are dot certified on federal regulations where your local Barny five has no clue what those regulations are... I tried to explain it to a local sheriff here in my town and this dude had no ideal...
