@Roadrum
When I started at my current gig, I was proud to work for them. I was a company driver too. I would have put our drivers up against any other group in the world. Even wore the shirt they gave me! One day, while loading some crane parts in Shady Grove,PA, I met a stupid driver in one of our truck. On that same move at the destination, I saw another stupid driver in our trucks. He had the track section of the crane on a flatbed, 48000 lbs, 4 points 5/16 chain, chained through the machined holes for the drive lines!
Back in those days we were at war with Keen Transport. Pull into a parkinglot, see a Keen driver and argue which company had the better KoolAid. But after realizing that the village idiot has become the Village of Idiot, I realized that not only is it bad to defend the Company KoolAid, Company KoolAid can be hazardous to your health. 2012, we had the Great Exodus. The vast majority of our talent fled. The solid drivers, the problem solvers, the guys that you could trust to get things done. They left. They were replaced with slackers and Braindeads. Safety score plummeted, which greatly affects the availability of high end freight. I was going to jump ship too, but management asked me to stay. "Sure, but I'm not wearing your at shirt and your hat."
A good friend of mine left and went to Sammons. He calls me bragging about how much better the KoolAid is at Sammons. "Don't drink the KoolAid! KoolAid will cause you to become disillusioned, and when truth is revealed, you will hate your job." He didn't listen, but as I said, he began to see the same slackers and Braindeads in Sammons trucks working side by side with him, hauling cheap freight. Horrified, he jumped ship.
"Six, I don't understand a word you are saying."
I know. And I apologize. But hopefully, one day you will. Right now, you're fired up ready to go. Go Team Kaiser! Put "Roadrum" at the top of the drivers door. It will mean more than any other sticker or name on that truck, be it manufacturer or company logo. Don't be so quick to jump up to defend the company name. Your name is wayyyyyyyyy more important. Anyways, in order for you to get your thread going in the direction you want, I will back out.
Happy motoring.

I want to let it go back to the happy talk also. But living in the world of facts and data, I had to at least check to see the pay for risking your safety to protect the valuable customer assets. Wait for it..........15 bucks. Enjoy your new Pete. I'm gone too.
roadmap65 Thanks this. -
Hope things workout for the best. But in my limited experience, I've noticed that with a big ride, comes a little paycheck.
Western flyer and nate980 Thank this. -

Don't get discouraged around here. Don't get woried about the low tarp pay ect. It all comes out in the wash, it will usually be made up elsewhere.
TripleSix Thanks this. -
I don't have a slick ride, just a rollback. I am home every night and I sleep on my bed every night eating home cooked meals by the misses. (Microwaved the next day)
This is what I got paid today.
Works out to about 90k a year. Best part is, I probably spent 100 hours at home last year on the clock.
That Kaiser video was probably one of the most dangerous things I seen. Here is one of my typical loads.
