My argument is more along the lines of making sure your rates cover that potential 4 hours you'll be down. you make it sound like every shipper and receiver is going to hold you up. That simply doesn't happen at the majority of these places that aren't a grocery DC.
What I also know is the quote "time is money was used". If I'm stuck in a door that 70 isn't burning. If I'm hunting an empty...it is...and for free. Do 2 empty searches a week and you've lost 2-4 hours off that 70...and that 70 is what makes you money.redoctober83, MysticHZ and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
Ive only been at a customer long enough to get detention 4 or 5 times. It ranged from the lowest at $35 an hour to i think $55 an hour was the highest. Ive been paid detention several other times where i wasnt even there beyond 2 hours but it just showed up on my settlement. I dont call and ask how or why.

man you won't let that go will you.
Schneider must have sent you on one legendary MT hunt. -
As far as MT hunts which have burned me a few times in the past over time I've learned somethings.
Main thing is a bit of places don't unload trailers on weekends.
If you go there to do a drop, especially on Sundays you'll most likely be screwed.
Also there's places that don't unload during evenings/early morning so if you run nights you have a higher risk of getting to a place that has no MTs left.
Learning the customers and regions is very helpful.
A lot of times I book in the same areas because I know there's money there and other customers nearby with MTs.
You can plan around to reduce the risk a lot.
However early on when I was new I did get screwed a bit.
Open window appt drop/hook freight does have a lot of value both in trip planning and in piling on shorter loads which I do a lot. It's something that if I leave to go elsewhere I most likely will lose out on. -
TN is where I'm at now, cheap to live and no state taxes -
I don't know if this is true. I heard the agents at LS have too find you an empty.

You back up and running @rickybobby
