I get them all the time. All speeding tickets are big because cops normally don't fool with the 10-15 over.
What I do is call the solicitor at the police station and tell him/her your a truck driver. You need a little help with this ticket (they already know why your calling) 9/10 they'll keep it off your record. Sometimes they'll ask you to show up in court to keep it off. They call it amending. They'll mark it up nearly double and reduce it to a smaller fine. I get these tickets at least 3 times a year. Not that big of a deal.

I call bs. I got a ticket for going 10 over. My ex codriver got a ticket going 14 over. I could go on. This is stupid and dangerous "advice" you are giving out.

Exactly, Why would anyone take responsibility for their own actions? My take would be why didn't he think about the consequences BEFORE he put his foot to the floor. Just think about him @ 26 over the next time you see a big ##* truck running up your rear end at an exit ramp.

OK, Just to explain my advice then you guys can bash me!

One of my side hobbies is street racing...I know,NOT good with a CDL but have been involved in racing for 35 years or more.Building cars,engines,ect....

A few years ago I got caught for drag racing, display of speed, unwanton disregard for public safety and every other thing the cop could throw at me.The speeding charge was 149 mph in a 65...So,yea...I could have been hauled to jail!

I called several Attorneys that work that particular court and got referred to the BEST in the county who used to be a DA.

This was expensive! 2000 bucks later and about 6 times continuing the case my Attorney called and said it was over..
    Nothing on my record period!....

NEVER,EVER just pay the fine and take the points!
If you are going to play be willing to pay the bucks! I have never just paid a ticket of any kind and never will.

I'd rather keep my 500 dollar attorneys' fees and take the points and then SHOW SOME FREAKING RESPECT FOR LAW and SLOW DOWN

I really dont understand why you guys are upset over the option to pay extra fines and attorney fees vs taking the points and ticket.

Either way its going to hurt. Its not getting off or not accepting resposibilty. I have paid what I felt was outrageous money in the past in order to avoid points on my license. $250 fine plus points and unsurance premiums vs $2500+ in fees and fines to the state. One way or the other you pay.

Is it any less upsetting for you that someone with out a cdl can get a 25 mph over ticket.. and simply take a 2 hour class on a saturday to make it go away?

Dont get me wrong.. 25 over is pretty bad. I whole heartedly agree with you. But If the option is there to hurt the wallet.. I feel it is an acceptable alternative.

In all honesty.. I dont think he can afford what it will cost to get it dismissed anyway. My guess is a cheap lawyer will get it reduced to a 5 - 10 mph over depending how clean his mvr is.
