JohnBoy, I'm sorry to hear about your sister in-law, my thoughts and prayers are with your wife and you during this time of loss.

My wife and I have been discussing several options for my future employment, there is a tanker company outta NJ that I have been researching, but she thinks Abilene should be my end goal especially after hearing how they helped you when you needed to get to a certain area.

    Be safe my friend.

    JohnBoy Thanks this.

The thing is, the tanker company starts me out at $.48 a mile to start and $19.00 an hour while loading and unloading, a corporate lodging card for hotels for OTR as they run day cabs. After 90 days it goes to $.50 cpm, and $20.00 an hour. Oh and $20.00 perdiem every night out. And they have a terminal 35 minutes from where I'm settling in PA.

They don't normally take students, but because I'm retired with 20 years of service they're willing to give me a chance.

Sounds like a pretty good opportunity @tractorman1970 especially if they are willing to give you a shot without experience which they don't normally do I think would really get some great training along with it.

    tractorman1970 Thanks this.

there really isnt a choice when you think of it
everyone doesn't like the day to day grind
    some prefer OTR
thing is OTR will always be there
    the other job maybe not
there are as many different jobs trucking as there are trucks
like for me health benes are the most important
others will only drive 379 Petes
