I just recently took my physical, and it is 140/90. Anything above that, you get a 1 year card. Above 160 and you fail. You have to get your own physician to sign off that your blood pressure is OK, and then you get a 3 month card.

That's not completely correct. You can count on Lisinopril to raise your pulse rate. I took it for several years. It raised my pulse rate from around 85 to up over 100.

To my understanding it is above, and including 140/90. And under 160/100 You get the 1 year card and after that year you must be under 140/90 to renew, no acceptions. It is a 1 time thing. Between. 160/100 and 180/110 3month, higher than that disqualified until you are under 140/90

Strange thing about the whole BP thing is a one time reading isn't how it's supposed to be done. Should be several readings over a few days and then the average of those readings to see if one truly has HBP. People can have "high" BP for a myriad of reasons, but what can you do, its the way things are set up now.

Absolutely correct, but do you want to go to the dot dr every day for a week?

NO not correct as to the DOT physical. Its at least two readings in ONE visit. Actually in every physical I have ever took where my BP was high they told me to lay in on the table on my left side for about 10 to 15 minutes. My BP always came down.

The point is that the dot test is innacurate. To properly diagnose hypertension a dr would have you monitor your blood pressure several times a day for a couple weeks

I'm not quite sure on the 1 time deal. I know a couple UPS Freight drivers that go 3 months at a time, and they have everything from diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. We also have drivers going 3 months at a time. A lot of our drivers are over 70 years old (tells you how easy our job is), and they go 3 months at a time. One of our drivers recently faid their BP for the second time, and is coming back, once he gets the OK from his doctor.
