The part that caused the confusion is
after JD divisible load comment. I was confused. Baffled. Stumped. Speechless.
"You, Six? Confused? Baffled and stumped?"
Sure it happens. Good job at loading BTW. See, I saw the axle weights and the load. Like everyone else, the first thought that came to mind is, DIVISIBLE LOAD, which JD said aloud. After your next post, the question wasn't whether or not you would run with it, but whether or not you knew that having those axle weights on a divisible load would automatically void an OS permit.

There was definitely some ish going on with the load. It was booked as 44k.. felt heavy on my drives. Thought I might have to back the first machine down a little bit. Imagine my surprise when I see the scale ticket.
Ended up taking one machine back to the construction site yard and just deilvering one machine. Rate stayed the same. Better than giving up the whole load and got my reload rescheduled for tomorrow.
I'm not beyond running an 86k load for the right money. I know some of you look down on that. But after talking with the broker and the shipper waiting on the machine..and feeling them out. Neither was going into their purse to offer any more money.
Wasted the last couple hours of daylight yesterday arguing if I am sure I know the empty weight of my truck. Could have delivered before noon and had my reload today. Thats why I said its all a waste of time.
I hate sitting still when there is money on the table.

It was a 9'2 wide.. legal height. So just permitted for the width. I showed the scale ticket because you guys are supposed to know me. I dont normally do over weight loads. So I was looking for some sympathy after getting screwed by the broker.
Thats pretty much all the post was about.

Im not going to give a lecture on bootlegging. You are not a rookie. You know what you are doing and you know the risks. The thing that will cause issue is the same thing that spurned all the controversy last year...your posting pics of divisible loads. If you were going to bootleg that load, you would pull those flags and banners. If you didn't have those flags and banners, ol JD wouldn't have even noticed.
Because we have so many rookies on this site, we are all obligated to show things done the correct way. We cant have rookies looking at pictures thinking that permitting divisible loads is okay. Okay?tsavory, skootertrashr6, MJ1657 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Ok
So I am going to be the A hole....
I do not care if you bootleg it, but it is guys with just that attitude that are crapping on rates for the rest of us in OS/OW segment. Rewarding a bad broker by taking a few extra "bootleg" dollars is exactly how we get brokers offering 100k loads at $4 mile all
In. It pushes the well I can always get some guy to bootleg it.
There I have said my part and you can do what you want.tsavory, passingthru69, peterbilt_2005 and 8 others Thank this. -
First,.. I've never 'bootlegged' a load directly like that. And the 2 times that I have,.. count please,.. twice,.. it was not for a few hundred extra. The broker nor shipper came off lightly. Try a $1800 line haul turning into $7000 all in to get me to do it. The 2nd time I was paid $5500 to go 310 miles. I hardly call that stepping on anyone's coolaide and doing it cheaply.
That and I dont believe that either were deliberate scam jobs to get someone to run a hot load. The second I am sure was not because the reason for the over weight was that the machinery was supposed to be empty of fluids,.. it carried a 300 gallon hydraulic tank that turned out to be full and carried roughly 400 gallons of fuel which was also full. Doing the math,.. there was the the extra weight that they could not account for. Someone at the shippers yard screwed up.
So in my opinion,.. I took advantage of the situation. I certainly dont make it a habit,.. I have had brokers try to get me to do loads like that for $300 - $500 extra. I refuse. I'm not hurting for money and desperate to run cheap paying loads. If thats what you think,.. you have the wrong guy.
I know the fact that I admit to doing it twice probably irritates the hell out of you. Nothing personal,.. but I honestly dont care. We are grown men and we both make decisions every day that may effect our principles. Would you rather I lie to you and say I am sorry and will never do it again?
Triple,.. I apologize for this post,.. I know this is not what you want me discussing here for the rookies to read. But I'm of the opinion that the only hot loads rookies would do or take is the one their boss forces on them and never compensated.
I know I'll get slammed for saying all of this. Meh,.. not the first time you guys have hated on me. Most likely wont be the last.

Late night OSB.

How hard is in to get the weight to axle out on one of those rigs? Seems to me it would be part rocket science on a few off those different loads you have posted.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 3, 2016
