Does anyone know which "type" of inverters we have in our trucks? From my very limited knowledge of inverters, there seems to be two basic kinds. Sine (clean power) and non sine (dirty power)... Not sure that I even have that correct.

Wanting to possibly add a few toys to my truck and want to have good quality power supply... I might consider adding a UPS battery backup to help condition the power supply prior to powering my electronics.

    Thanks

Well, two miles from the little gas station that I use to park the truck during home time... And I pass a State Trooper sitting under a bridge...

I sure didn't think I was going too fast... I was fairly sure as I had just heard the chatter on the CB, seen him, and noted my speed (habit... lol)

But he said he clocked me as 65 in a 55...

    Oh crud...

Well, the very nice and professional law enforcement officer took pity on me and did a level 2 on my truck and let me roll home.

Whew... Glad to be lucky any day.

So, here is my week. I spent last weekend with my wife in Cincinnati for her sisters funeral. Then I left Sunday night to start my 3 drops, knowing I was going into a blizzard. Ran hard, 635 miles Monday, drop in Ft Wayne, Milwaukee and Hampton Iowa. Got to a safe haven and hunkered down safe and sound. Finally got rolling yesterday, loaded in Clinton Iowa, delivered in Newport News this afternoon. Now here is where it gets stressful. I had hometime and a week scheduled off starting tomorrow, and leaving on a cruise Monday with my wife for a week. There was absolutely no way I could get anywhere near Florida to be empty tomorrow. So how does Abilene come through? A deadhead move to a Publix 6 miles from my house to get an empty trailer, all 949 miles of it bobtail. Speechless, that's all I can say. I had a car rental all set up, instead I cancelled it and made it down here to Kenly NC where my clock ran out.

I got one last week, too. Totally on me, officer said I was doing 61 in a 50. This guy,who is known for being a prick on trucks, gave me a warning.

Thats great for you, however I do wonder if they would do that for others. Being that you train and have tons of experience is most likely the reason IMHO. Enjoy your vacation.

So you are suggesting that it's a good thing to work hard and be a valuable asset to ones company? That it might be the fruits of ones labors coming back to benefit?

Sounds like a good goal and mindset to have as an employee at any company.

And I would like to think that Abilene would try to help out any of their drivers when situations like what JohnBoy has hit recently ... A death in ones family followed by weather delaying him and putting him out of position for a personal vacation with a hard departure time.

I agree completely. He should be treated that way by Abilene. I was just wondering if it was the norm or a well deserved exception.

Only here six months so I can only go with my gut... But I would like to think this company would try to help their drivers when an unfortunate situation, or in this case two, hit a driver.

Now, if I were the company, which I am not, and I was faced with such a situation from the other side of the QC, it would be much easier to help someone that is a proven asset to the company vs someone that always moans and groans and doesn't step up on the good days.

But that's just me, I'm a flawed human being. o_O

The company knows two things about JohnBoy. One he is one of the best drivers. Two he doesn't play. Everything he gets is well deserved.

As you have seen, my experience here has been different from JBs. I will say that EVERY TIME there has been an emergency situation Abilene has come thru for me. Ex. My mom was in hospital and I was in Dallas, got home as quickly as my hours would allow. Again, mom in hospital, in Chicago. Got a dead head move all the way back home in VA near Richmond. So, yes, they do.

@JohnBoy - enjoy your cruise and if you could, please bring us back some of the warm air and sunshine!!!
