It's been like 5 years with no medicines besides one time when I pulled my groin and got some vicodin 2 years ago.

And yeah Chinatown was good to me and made me learn, if they don't ask, don't tell. Not like I need to hide anything, but it's good to know.

The funny thing is in the 70's and 80's there was no ADD, or ADHT. This started with the invention of cable tv and state of the art video game systems. When I was a kid we had 4 tv channels and no video game systems were invented and if I brought back a failing report card, I was met with a horse whip. That was ADD medication back in the day, punishment for bad grades. It's amazing how parents want to put it in their kids head that something is wrong with them and get them hooked on medication for the rest of their lives at a young age and the doctors who prescribe ADD get huge kickbacks. But if you want to handicap your kid, go ahead...it's no skin off my back. -
Actually add/adhd has been around since the early 1900s.

Ya know, before I had my son I thought the same thing. There is no way to beat this condition out of any kid. LoL. Can tell you've never experienced it, just speaking regurgitated opinions you probably heard on talk radio or something.
Almost love to hear your opinion on autism. Truck driversLast edited: Feb 8, 2016

Friend of mine was on ADD medicine for years, then decided to join the Marines last year. Recruiter told him to keep his mouth shut. He didn't mention anything, then during basic training the DI got all buddy-buddy with everyone and said everything is good now; lets be open with each other since we're all brothers now. He gleefully told about the ADD medicine to his BFF, the DI, and was promptly discharged and sent home. Same thing will happen in trucking; those trick BFF questions.homeskillet, roadmap65 and bottomdumpin Thank this. -
I have HDADHD. High Definition ADHD. When I finally see or figure out the problem it is extremely clear.

Anyway, from what I read/believe this is bad stuff. It appears the majority of recent mass shooters were on drugs like these.
As I know, kids in the 50's & 60's used to take their guns to school if they were on the rifle team. I paid for my first shotgun, a 20 ga. when i was 14, and my first pistol, a Colt .45 when I was 16, and I had FULL possession of them. My mother trusted me and I didn't abuse that trust.
Look it up, from what I've read all the recent mass shooters were prescribed mind altering drugs. Now, maybe it's possible these boys were abusing/over dosing their meds OR it affects a tiny percentage differently.
But when I read about your son being "helped" by meds like this then it makes me wonder what I should do with MY SON.
You said you fought over whether to put your son on them or not. So I'm seriously debating what to do and I would like to learn from you or any other father in your situation.
If you have the time can you please answer these questions:
1) Can you say how old was your son when it was suggested he take meds?
2) How long did you fight over the decision before you gave in?
3) How soon before you saw results?
4) How many years are they prescribed for?
5) Do you notice a change in personality, like in the order of the stepford wives; no humor intended.
Thank youLast edited: Feb 8, 2016
