There isn't much local unless you apply to be a driver at a facility that has an opening. Which Lansing and Joliet both own day cabs.
I will be a little more than regional, but not quite OTR. I am told I can run the Midwest, East, Northeast, Southeast, South, or Southwest - most of those loads will originate from the Chicago area. Normally I will load around Chicago with an out and back, or I can reload to come back if the trailer isn't a dedicated trailer. Those trailers come back empty. Say I load a Georgia from Chicago, I will most likely find a load to come back. Or I might have to run a couple loads to get back. The idea is to always get back, so I can cover our loads in the Chicago area. Because of where I live - I will see my wife and home as often as I want/need to. Just not every night. I hope this helps.

What is a typical Friday or Saturday night like for Quality road drivers? Do you normally have deliveries on the weekend?

No idea brother. I haven't started yet, but it sounds like either or. Some of the guys run the weekends, some go home, and some take their 34 hour wherever they are. I have been staying touch with quite drivers and o/o I have met the last couple of months, so all I can tell you is what they are telling me.

Alright, this is what we have all been waiting for - especially me. I roll Monday :p

The custom bumper hasn't come in yet, but we found a crashed loaner bumper to use temporarily. Once my 20" custom chrome bumper comes in they will install it, I just can't afford to wait any longer.

Monday morning I go in do an inspection of the truck, get my first free full tank of fuel, and head to Joliet - to report for duty. I will probably spend an hour or so getting to know my terminal team, and how to coexist with each other. Plus I have to make sure I know how to turn my stuff in correctly, so I get paid correctly :D

After that go pick up my new hose and fitting kit, then off to work.

I will update you and post a picture of my truck Monday night during my 10 hour. Keep it real brothers, and ride easy.

I'm not an owner op but I drive for quality out of the Albany, NY terminal. Pretty slow up there right now that's why I'm out in the system.

image.jpeg image.jpeg Off and running today. Heading to Allentown PA for a Wednesday 07:30 delivery - I loaded near Chicago at 18:00. When I went to meet my team in Joliet I picked up an empty clean tank from the yard. When I get out east I will unload, wash tank, then reload back to the Windy. I don't know the reload yet, but I should know Wednesday morning once I'm empty. It's nice to not have to pick and choose, because everyone knows what direction I want to go. I want to go out loaded and back to the Windy loaded, so I can do it again.

They like it too, because it makes it easy on them to dispatch me. Hell we all know liquid is going in the tank, so who cares what it is.

The tank wash will be a nice experience Wednesday, so I'll update on that for sure. At our yard in Joliet we drop the empty, and get a clean one, or take a break while they clean ours.

I putting up a pic of my truck, then when I get my new bumper I'll update it. The weather sucked today, so it was clean anymore - 10 minutes into my journey. Lol

    Keep it real out there.
