I've had a thought of attaching a couple pound weight to a carabiner to attach to the tarps to hold them down till you can pin the ends down with bungees. I might just look into it.

I have never tarped but this is coming from an old farm boy that just figures out how to get it done. What if you used a rope. Take one end and run it behind the rub rail and under a chain spool. Then you throw both ends up onto the load. Then you could tie one end to a d-ring and use the other to pull the tarp down from up on top of the load. You know, just for those days with lots of wind.

When I tarp a tall load on a windy day,I will bungee a couple of binders to the corners before I drop the sides down.

If you try hooking the 4in straps around rub rail with just some slack to be able clear the roll of tarp you are passing under each strap when you get sides to fall down they will not blow over the top of load with the straps spaced even down the load.

    Chewy352 Thanks this.

More tarping for me. Someone else will deliver this load for me tomorrow (this is my dedicated set of trains, as of a few weeks ago--that's why they're all I've been pulling). But don't think I'm getting off easy... I'm taking a different set of trains north tonight to pickup another load of that tarped hardwood first thing in the morning. Lol!

image.jpeg My go-home load. Deliver in OKC in the morning. Then run back to the yard, grab the pneumatic, and spend the weekend hauling sand. So it's actually my go-to-the-yard load, I guess.

Ozdriver, Sleepy68, Chewy352 and 4 others Thank this.

Delivered in grand prairie tx yesterday and held the seat down for an hour waiting for a get home load. Dispatcher calls and says head to gainsville load delivers Monday in Kansas City ks. So I hit the road and tell the wife I'm coming home. Dispatcher calls again a few miles before Denton and says pull over. They want the load Friday morning. Texted the wife the change of plans and held the bunk down for an hour. Then dispatcher texts and says head home and be on call Friday for local work and we've god a load out of red rock ok to SD Monday morning. Sweet so I call the wife, I'm coming home. About 4:15 dispatcher calls. Can you be at malarkey in okc by 6. Ya no problem. Ok well I got a load unloading in Amarillo in the am and then deadhead home and no on call. So another call to the wife.

I like this plan better. Much shorter work day today and the extra 400 miles put me at 3300 for the week.

Who needs a roller-coaster when you can just be a truck driver. And rookie lesson: don't tell the wife you're coming home till you're pulling in the drive.

That's one thing I learned. Never call and make plans until I'm parked lol
