    Lets go on.

US and EU trucks share engines

Cummins supplies engines to Europe, but MAN, Volvo, Daimler fit their engines to International, Volvo, Mack and all Daimler trucks.

It is not all. ZF Astronic is widly used in Europe, Eaton lost its positions in Europe. Mercedes pushes transmissions, axles and engines under Detroit logo, Volvo remamed I'shift to M-Drive and Opticuise for Mack and Renault trucks.

So we can see mix of globalisation, unification and localisation

Nicolas is French company, and they build the heaviest tractors in the world. And they also build very heavy trailers. Read the brochure of the Nicolas Tractomas and you will find that these trucks are being used in Australia

Agreed ! Pablo, I have not said NA trucks are better(different). Just correcting nontruths. Almost think someone here was going to tell us about these special arms with rubber mounted to them to ensure EU drivers could see in the rain.

A Nicolas Tractomas can do up to 1000 metric tons, and once Australia will also get Euro 6 etc. (many countries around the world use the Euro specification!!), you will have those electronics as well.

Australian trucks should comply with Euro 3 after 2003, with Euro 4 after 2008, and Euro 5 after 2011. It seems there's nothing on the calender yet for Euro 6. That's why DAF is importing the old Euro 5 models in Australia, not the present Euro 6 models. By the way you can replace the Euro standards by the equivalent US or Japanese standards.

What you are talking about is the AGE of the truck. A new Paccar, Volvo, Mercedes or MAN diesel has the same electronics in Europe and NA.

Pablo wrote that his trucks are Euro 2. Those trucks are not even allowed in several European cities. A truck must have Euro 4 or better.

The kind of old trucks you are talking about are shipped to third world countries over here.

Very, very true Pablo. When these guys are talking about 'overcomplicated' European trucks compared to simple NA trucks, they are in fact talking about new trucks versus old trucks. A new NA truck is just a complicated as a new EU truck.

You're funny. I've never used the words smart and dumb. I never denied these things about ownership. But you totally agree with Mr. Ozdriver when he claims that EU trucks fall apart in 5 minutes in Australia, and NA trucks do not, and now you claim they are build with the same technology and standards. It must be the sticker "made in Europe" that makes them fall apart then?

Legally it was 1.1.2014. some importers manage to bring euro5 trucks during 2014 as they were ordered earlier....

but you can find 2011 and 2012 euro6 trucks, as tolls are cheaper for them, yesterday i have found 2012 actros euro6 converted to eev....
