Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Been a many years back . The fenders swing out and was a trap door in the dog box to give engine excess.

The video posted about the Volvo trucks in Indonesia shocked me! Volvo promoting use with loads that they openly admitted that the brakes could not handle. Retarders or jakes plus the service brakes could not control speed on the grades. Just trying to kill people? Not something to brag about! Guess it's a third world country , those people do not matter? Coal is major industry here also but they cannot load past their braking capacity. 12% grades are a cake walk where this thing image.jpg runs. Try 19%. On some of the tightest mountain roads . This set up is 60 ton legal. You have to be able to stop.

Also noticed the KWs there in Indonesia were pulling triples. That doesn't mean anything, they too can not stop. Looks like they need to buy more trucks and stop trying to pull doubles or spec equipment to handle the job! Don't care who or where it's made as long as it's able to do the job! Not being able to control speed is not doing the job! Everyone agree ? Open minded and reasonable?

I think they over dramatize that part a bit. These are haul roads , not national public roads. Not being able to stop is achievable with most heavy trucks if you are irresponsible. I can understand not being able to stop before the bottom when giving it gas to get through a dip but you see that on the big logging trucks in NA as well. What gets me is that they can get traction loss on dry ground with over 77 000lbs on tandem drives with diffs all locked up.That with over 22 000lbs on single steers they can lift the front wheels off the ground. Average life on drive tires 14 days. I wonder what a good rate per mile would be on a job like that?
Any truck that can stand up to that has to be tough.
Those are the sort of numbers you expect from purpose built behemoths like Hayes.

than it is LP series with straight engines, LP series with V engines can lift cab, this series were built between 1963 and 1974 or 75 if they are smaller units, light were made till 84

those two trucks ( orange one you have posted and this LP differs a lot)

now photo of truck that I have posted is American model range, they were assembled in USA, and for your market they were called LP and LPS , instead European name NG.....

Volvos there are only with VEB not VEB+ , Scania come only with exhaust brake, mostly without retarder. So you are pretty right about safety issues.

19% is more than 12% but with that much weight ( mostly 210t) and especially with such axle weights(20t/axle) this truck become much difficult than 60t on 6axles , add to that that many trucks are 14axle setups.....not 11 or 12.....
