Once David in KS. was asked to try to get me to deadhead 1000 miles to Sheldon for my next load. He told them you can't ask a guy to do that , they said offer him 10 CPM ... He called me knowing he's about to ask a 20yr guy to travel a thousand miles for 10 CPM. When my reply was someone's lost their minds, he said it's not me bud. I told them you want him to do that you call him and ask him. They told him "do your job" . He was the only good I seen at VW over 6 months.

David was a very good guy from my limited dealings with him...only ran to KS twice. 1000 miles deadhead?! Hopefully that was when you handed back the keys...I thought Syracuse to VA was bad.

No , I told him you have to do better than that he said I know , then offered me something to get closer to home that didn't pay. I said how about you keep looking and tomorrow's another day. He understood that after 20 yrs driving and at 24% , that I wasn't at all interested in less than the bottom line ...33cpm was as low as I'd go. He knew I drove for Jevic at 49cpm for 7&1/2 yrs.
I once turned back in 2006 , 10 stops at 15.00 per stop and 51 cpm for 390 miles in a 12:45 min time frame while at Jevic , good for $350.00 dollar day in less than 13 hrs. So I wasn't playing this frt is slow baloney. But David was cool , I called him about 4 yrs later to verify he was still there for a work reference. Mention who I was , that he'd probably not remember me , as I was only there 6 months. He said I do remember ya Bri , You want to come back ? I said is the lil Redhead still out there in VA , he laughed said yeah he is , I said No thnks bud , you know that won't work for me. But he was real cool and understanding.

If you don't mind, I'm curious to know who you are referring to as the redhead...pm if you don't want it out in the open.

I can't remember his name , he ran Waynesboro back in 2007 and 08 , was still there in like 2011 according to Dave. The 2nd in charge there was Ron , he was okay but as a puppet on the redhead's string , he couldn't do much. The reason I can't remember his name is because I soon wanted to forget his name. And I did. Now he's just what's his face to me. And I'd tell him that to his face hoping he'd get froggy with me.

Lol, Corey is the manager in VA now, Josh is the dispatcher. I never had a major problem with them, though I know some did.

I believe Corey is the guy , it's no surprise Ron isn't there , he was pretty cool and I think he wasn't too keen with the day I left there and why. What's his face wanted me to run to Green Bay from Norfolk at about 18cpm.
He gave me the ultimatum , run it or pick it up , bring it to Waynesboro and be done. Lets make a deal ... Line me up a hot seat home in the A.M. and you got it. No call from the VP , that
I spoke to a few days earlier about this guy pulling loads out of the crapper at my expense. SCREW IT ROYALE , my attitude was their attitude .

I wouldn't say it was horrible...there was some BS, but you will have that at any job. The biggest complaint I have was running percentage when you have no control over what loads you pick and where you deadhead to. Even with my limited experience, I can tell you there isn't any chance I would even start my truck for 80cpm or deadhead 350 miles somewhere for a load unless the rate made up for the empty miles. At mileage, at least I know what I'm making per mile, and to be honest, I could care less if the owner is making 80cpm or $5.00 per mile, as long as I get paid a decent rate for the work I do.
