Urghhh........welcome back. I load tomorrow down in Sunrise, 40 miles from the house going to Petersburg Va. Here's the problem I have tomorrow. The trailer that I was bobtailed 945 miles to pick up had a lock attached to the back door. Before I hooked to it 2 weeks ago, I went in and spoke with the store manager. He assured me the trailer was empty and that the contractors were done with the job 2 weeks prior and all that needed to be done was to pick up this trailer.

I called into dispatch and was told that the only way we are allowed to pick up any empty trailer at one of these stores is when it is released by the company after the job is completed. I was told to hook to it and we would take care of the lock when I was ready to come back out. So, I get my load info then go and take my portable grinder to the trailer and cut the lock off. I open the doors and low and behold, there's 3 crates with about 750lbs of unused product in the trailer.

Like a good little soldier, I call in and explain the problem. Of course it's now the end of the day and the solution to the problem is this, I was told to go back to the store in the morning on my way to load and ask the store manager to have someone take the 3 crates off. Right, like a Publix store has any extra room to leave this crap on their dock, not to mention I'm going to have to fight every bread delivery truck, Pepsi delivery truck, milk delivery truck and what ever else is there at 7am. Let's see how this turns out. I offered to do what I needed to have my new load put on around this crap and deal with it after I get empty, but that wasn't good enough. My last night home and I have to deal with this. I wonder how much more free work I'll do this week.

JB, have you delivered to Volvo in Reno? QC says it's a drop at 6 am (which is usually code for as soon as you get there but don't dawdle) Thursday, but Walter said let him know in the morning if I couldn't make delivery time. I already sent that lovely msg that I wouldn't make it, but... Guess they don't look at them? Not sure what the deal is with this one. I suppose they really don't want to have to buy a set of chains for a driver that doesn't usually go where/when they are required. (1st time in 3 yrs, btw).
