If you can hear your electronics buzzing & hissing does that mean you aren't getting goon clean sine wave power? I notice when I have the ps4 plugged into the wall at home its completely silent except when its using the bluray drive... hooked up to my inverter I can hear what sounds like capacitor hiss. And what's a really good clean inverter? thx

As for playing online, aside from using your phone you can get a Kindle fire HDX and preload it with up to 5 gb of data from AT&T or Verizon..I find it works rly great, and fast. Was playing Titan Fall on LTE and pinging 70s....at the TA in morris id get like 30 ping since theres a tower right by the parking lot. It was pretty sweet

Most likely that's what the noise is from. The cheap inverters (and that includes anything you buy at a truck stop) are "modified sine wave" (MSW). There's a good description of MSW on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_inverter#Output_waveform). Since the MSW output is made up of square waves, it has a lot of higher frequency components (called "harmonics") that don't exist on a pure (or true) sine wave signal. Consumer electronics (such as the PS4 power supply) are not designed to handle this high frequency energy, and it could eventually be damaged by a MSW inverter.

There are a number of companies that make pure sine wave (or true sine wave) inverters. I have a 300W Samlex inverter in my truck for my CPAP machine, and it does a great job. Tripp-Lite makes good inverters; they are the inverter that Thermo-King uses for their Tri-Pak APUs. I've heard good reports about Xantrex, but I haven't used one personally.

The downside to a pure sine wave inverter is cost. While you can get a 1500W MSW for $100 and change, a true sine wave inverter at the same power rating is going to run closer to $400. (MSRP; inverters are often discounted.)

FYI, the MSW inverters work very well with heating appliances. Your Foreman grill will work just fine on an MSW inverter. Your microwave, however, may not (and probably won't) work as well as it does on home power.

Actually, I have a Thermoking and my inverter is a Xantrex unit, just rebranded.

I'm not surprised, especially if your inverter is other than a 2000W unit. I know a few people with Tri-Pacs, and they have 2000W Tripp-Lites in them.

I rent an old unlimited verizon data account off ebay. (Just search unlimited verizon data on ebay and you'll find one.) For the most part its worked well for me. Ping is normally good as long as I reset the data before using it.
Its expensive but for an internet addict like me its nice. Its also nice not having to worry "Am I going to go over my data plan."

$150 which is a lot. But to me its worth it.Others likely would disagree.
