Just have to find a company that can afford insurance that allows young drivers. I'm 25 and just came into fuel hauling with 3 years experience all dry van. My company hires at 23 but most where I live do not, most require 25. But it all depends on the company insurance and your driving record. I've been through a lot of different driving jobs and hauling fuel is so much better.

That sounds like a long trip from Los Angeles. Sounds like a 1 load day actually. Am I right?

I got stuck in that mudslide a few months ago and ended up at this really nice Motel 6 at Frazier National Park. Maybe you know the place, right before Fort Tejon. Pretty close to Castaic. Got stuck for 2 days with the family and a rental car, everyone was running out of supplies and it was total anarchy with 200+ truckers stuck at the truck stop there.

I just finished off a long night, 12 hours, and I got a 30 mile highway commute each way. It's not too bad cause there's no traffic when I get off work.

Castaic isn't too bad if you heading north bound the station sits to your left pass the scales. Every time I've had it i get 3 loads that night, although I'm shure we have some drivers that could turn it into a one load day lol. That mud slide looked crazy on the news.

I missed that mudslide by just a few hours. Funny thing is that it was sunny and clear when I went through there. I'm out of Fresno and picked up a load in Sun Valley that day. I remember hearing about the slide on the news later that day and thinking how lucky I was.

I was down in Torrance when it happened, I stepped out of a hotel room and looked north and saw all the lightening really far away. I remember thinking, jesus christ it's stormy over there. I left LA the next day and after I passed up the SF valley and my GPS was telling me 3 hour delay. Traffic was routed all the way around the grapevine, ended up headed towards Mojave with thousands of cars in a gridlock. Tried to take every conceivable backroad to no avail, everyone else had the same idea and everything was flooded. Took some random backroads up the grapevine and ended up in frazier park, stranded. I had to strong-arm the clerk at the Motel 6 to give me a room since I had kids, then he gave me a fat discount when he saw "commercial driver's license" on my ID.

Two times this week, 4 wheelers decided to change their flat tires right on top of the drops... Neither of whom spoke English... Gotta love LA.

Most of the truck drivers I see here in California don't speak English either. Have you ever noticed, there's way more activity on channel 7 then 17 these days? Or I should say 15 or 19 in LA area. It's a real disgrace.

Yea lol and they are always driving the trucks that spew smoke clearly in violation of CARB. It's pretty wild. They just handed out a million drivers licenses to illegals too, more cars on the road is more work for us though so there's always a bright side.

California is a real joke. Illegals driving unsafe trucks down freeways that are not fit for driving. I can't believe how bad the roads are down that way. I'm worried my truck is going to need an alignment before I get back to Fresno. But yet California has money to build the stupid train that nobody wants. I'm sure they'll let the illegals ride for free.

You have a point that they need gas for their cars, which is good for you. I don't drive a fuel truck now, although I did for a couple years almost 20 years ago. I used to go to Tosco in LA to pick up bulk oil. It was off the 110 just past the 105. Is that place still there?

Yep I'm there right now as we speak. Well across the street at the gasoline rack anyway.
