I got a 2013 D13 and it has oil coming out from the blow by pipe, there's no code and everything is running normal. I have to add 2 gallons of oil when I run 2500 miles and oil everywhere under the truck and trailer.

If you are trying to keep running this truck till you have cash to do a eng. overhaul you can try adding lucus or any of the oil thickeners to keep the oil in it longer, but a broken or worn out part in motor is starting to show
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
How many miles on the truck? At 450k ish I had to replace the crankcase vent separator assembly. I was losing a lot of oil but once that was replaced I didn't lose much of any between oil changes
Good luck -
Can the separator unit be drained ????
-
My truck has about 550k, when I pulling a heavy load, it seems to leaks more.KB3MMX Thanks this.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't think it needs a overhaul yet cause the motor only got 550k on it.KB3MMX Thanks this.

I believe oil separator can not be drain; the functions of it should be recycling the oil/vapor coming out the crankcase breather tube to the engine.KB3MMX Thanks this.

I have a cat c13. My truck was doing the same thing. Took it to cat a month ago. I had a crack head. They did a platinum overhaul. But, before that I was using 4 to 6 gallons of oil between changes. I change my oil every 12k mi. If your fuel mileage is good and it's pulling. I would keep adding oil. It's cheaper, than a overhaul. Just my .02

One thought could be that your truck was one of the Volvo engines that had the bad valve guides problem. Usually the ones with the problem show up before 300k mi but you never know....

for a temporary fix you can take a 1 inch rubber hose and loop it around from the inlet to the outlet of your crankcase filter then just run a hose from the valve cover down i know its a redneck fix but ive done it to a few with 600,000 + miles and they are still running good. Those crankcase oil separators are like $600-$700
aunimni, baha, KB3MMX and 1 other person Thank this.
