I hope someone in the know is still following this thread. I am at a company that promised the world, but delivered a mud ball, and I've gotta get out, in 8 months my credit is in a shambles, and 2 months late on everything. I have a few questions about Ashley for the folks who have been there for a while. Most of these questions have to do with the Leesport warehouse, because I live in Allentown. I have a great CSA score.

Most Important: This fall I need to have Friday nights off (late August to December 2016). Unfortunately this will be a deal breaker if it is not allowed. My son was a starter in his junior year of high school football. This past season they went to the Pennsylvania State Championship (like the equivalent of the Super Bowl for high school football in PA). Has Ashley granted any such requests that you know of? I can never get that season back. I would be willing to shift my week in order to be at these games. Say, start on Sunday, and be off Friday and Saturday.

Management: I live closest to Leesport, but have read some pretty discouraging things. Now that they are hiring a hundred drivers, does that indicate a change in their management? Is the facility still a mess, or is it better?

Dispatchers: Being treated with respect is a nerve with me. How would you rate the dispatchers for the guys running out of Leesport?

Being Home Every Night: I believe I've seen some day-cabs coming out of Leesport. Am I mistaken? Do they have options to be home every night? What is that pay scale like?

Thank you everyone for your help with this.

First, which division were you thinking of? Ptp or ltl?
Disclaimer : I'm not out of Leesport, I'm out of Arcadia.
You should be able to set it up with your planner to leave out Sunday mornings and be back Friday afternoons. It doesn't always work out, but most of the time.
Does leesport have thier issues? Yes, same as all the plants/ warehouses. Multiple factors go into this. Being yohimbine live in the area, you know the challenges of driving in the NE. Don't let the other guys scare ya...
Adding trucks isn't due to management changes, we are trying to grow the fleet and expand, and the NE is a tougher area to get qualified drivers.
I'm on ptp fleet, mostly drop n hook. I avg close to 3000 miles a week, leave monday morning, home Saturdays usually before noon. Really love it here, wish I would've come here years ago!

What is it that you like most about this company? Sometimes companies will tell you what they think the drivers want to hear, but don't have the day-to-day perspective that we do.

I was thinking LTL, I've always liked that when I have worked with other companies in the past.

I'm also not getting any younger. I don't mind being out all week now, but I think I'd like to slow it down in the future and be home more often. I also would like to stay with a company permanently, if possible. Long story short, if I work for Ashley being out all week, could I request less nights out and possibly be home more nights per week (understanding, of course, that the income would be less). As I get older I'd like to reduce the nights out without having to change to another company.

I worked out of Leesport for 3+ years. Don't want to burst your bubble but I left for the same reasons you seek. LTL leaves Sun eve/Monday AM. You may work out of a remote yard all week or you may come through Leesport daily, pick up another load and go right out. Rarely if ever home 2+ weeknights in a week. It can be slow all week but come Friday it is balls to the wall. I was getting home most Fridays from 7-10 PM or even Sat AM. Never was able to plan my weekends at home. You could be empty by 1-2 PM but need to travel back to Leesport from MA, CT, VT or the DC area etc. on a Friday afternoon/evening....not an easy task. Being dispatched out of WI, they have no clue of the traffic on the I-95 corridor. They do run Day Cabs but they are put up for bid and every one was taken by a LTL over the road driver while I was there. Income is good, $65K-$75K 1st yr. As you learn the areas and you become more efficient, $85K to $95K is in the ballpark for LTL. I was on track for $95K when I left. Your best bet at Fridays off is the PTP fleet. Some PTP guys are running Sun AM to Thur PM but nobody on LTL has consistent early in's on Fri. Income is in the $60K to $65K range in PTP with some guys doing a little better.

    Hope this helps
