OT is the only way to go if they start it after 10 hours.

Even after 40 is good. OT was over 30% of my compensation last year and I don't even work that much, 55 hours per week usually.

Plant, I know, I worked 60 hours a week and still had two days off. It got a lot better when I got some time on the board and started working days with my normal days off were Sun, Mon, Tues. I could pick up a day of OT either on Sunday or Tuesday. Those were the days and then the book smarts came in and they chopped everywhere they could to save money. Some of them were jealous because we were making more than they were. Now you're working at the top and I know it's a great job except for the L.A. thing.

Honestly I would work less if I could. We always have open shifts available and I always turn them down. I really love the 3 day weekends and don't want to give them up.

What both companies and drivers don't get is its a state law to pay O.T. trucking or not. If the driver stays in CA for the whole day they must play by the rules. Unfortunately most companys will break them till a lawsuit is filled and most drivers are too scared to say something.

That's how I role only my days off are tues, wed, thurs so I usually work extra on tues or thurs. And then sometimes I work six days, can't wait till a better schedule opens up though.

When you've got the better job it takes forever for a shift to open. 7 years for me. The drivers stick around until they retire for the best of pay, but I don't blame them. In fact I'm grateful to those guys that took the time to sharpen my skills.

    Cali kid Thanks this.
