That pattern in the picture is a Super 10......Been years but that was the pattern I believe!

Dont clutch between same pin gears, off the gas flip the side switch and it changes gears. The spliter is automatic. When you push the stick to the right you can hear the spliter kick -
Neutral is anywhere it's not in gear. Most Eaton Fuller's have some distance between gear engagements and at any point when a gear is not engaged is considered "neutral".
Don't bother thinking about it. Get your hands on one and try it. Shifting an un-synchronized manual transmission is all "feel". -
Thats a Eaton 10 over. The last 2 final gears are reversed. Gives you another half gear.

My dump truck has a 8LL that has the gears in a circle like that. It is kind of cool to shift you just go in circles. 1 up left, 2 down left, 3 down right, 4 up right, flip splitter and go up left and repeat. Switching from driving that and driving the 10spd in the 379 throws me for a loop for a few minutes.
Mtn Gal and street beater Thank this. -
That's practically the same pattern as my Eaton 15 over. Newer overdrive transmissions use a bell crank lever on the top cover to reverse the motion of the shift rail so you don't have that horseshoe shift pattern between 3/4 and 8/9.

Now the real quesrion. All I have ever driven are split 10s. How diffrent are the 13 and 15 speeds?
