I don't think he asked if he should sell, really. If you bought the radio with the impression that it was going to be converted and it isn't I would ship it back at their expense and demand a refund or have them convert it.. Did you pay for a conversion, peak and tune or did I misunderstand your initial post.

Maybe it has already been converted and you need to put it on a different band, try band D .

It was included in the price when I bought it. I contacted the company I bought it from and said find a shop I like, get the work done and then send them a copy of the invoice. I found a place out at the 103 off I-20 in Calhoun, LA. Great people great work and all done in just a few minutes

Thank you for letting us all know you were able to work it out. And congrats for finding a decent shop relatively nearby. There *are* good shops left scattered around the country. A lot of us olde phartes have been in the business for over 40 years. My opinion is that most of the good ones have been involved with other radio disciplines that have helped teach a deeper understanding of radio theory & practice. And that's what helps techs understand and acquire more advanced test gear. Thank you for posting the location of the one you found; word-of-mouth advertising is often the very best.

If you EVER get that tower up, we'll have to try some "long distance" co-munee-katin........

Don't know if I can make it over the hills or not. The farthest down here that I have talked is about 65 miles. You know about where I am, I talked to a guy that was northeast of Clarksville on his base. Not too shabby for my little mobile walkie talkie.

    http://www.cbtricks.com/radios/connex/cx_3400hp/cx_3400hp_freq_mod.htm

The above site tells you how to do it. Also just google: "Connex 3400 hp mods"

Whenever I buy a ham radio I google the ham radio model followed by the word mods. I've been able to easily open every ham radio so I can talk on any frequency ... police, fire, air, cb, military (non-encrypted), business band, etc.

Same with car repairs: Google your car make, model, and year followed by the problem. It'll take you to all sorts of sites that give really good advice at fixing your car.

Not the same as the radio I have. If it were all that easy I wouldn't have posted a thread. The board where the chip plugs is totally different.

I've got everything. Coax came in today. I just haven't decided how I'm gonna put the tower up. I've been reading a lot of stuff on-line. I'll be at about 40ft at the base time I stick a pole out of the top. There is a guy up here trying to get rid of a tower (55ft) for $200 or trade for Ruger 10/22 if you know anybody in need.

If you don't have the receive realigned, I'd just run a Cobra. I've never owned an export radio that was converted and tuned properly......and I've had a lot of them. They were always done right when they left my hands though. :D

It's not going to talk or hear nearly as far as it could if the shop in Calhoun Louisiana tampered with the radio. A Cobra 29 out of the box will outperform your high-dollar radio after the guys in Calhoun get done with it
