They don't pay your bills but you will share the roads with them. Approval and recognition of other professionals isn't a bad thing.
What is it with Youtube celebrity truckers?

Looks like a new driver to me. -
Looks like a distracted driver to me.
desperado75 and HalpinUout Thank this. -
Why watch the videos. When u Stuart driving it will become very obvious who the other drivers and employees respect. Emulate them. How they drive. How they treat others. I have one driver that I look up to not just for being a good trucker but for his work ethic and his personal code of conduct. Find those people and learn from them and you won't be a rookie for long.

Fascinating. A thread about the Kim Kardashians of trucking."Celebrity"....LMAO! Yeah, if I wanted to learn about trucking, I would go to YouTube and listen to a fool with a camera.
"But Six, they don't have an ap that I could upload to show me the ropes. YouTube is the next best thing."
Was sitting in a bar and a woman struck up a conversation with me. She had a conversation with a guy and the guy started crying and baring his soul to her. She asked me if that was manly. I told her that it was a play for her. A weak play. A very weak play. She didn't understand.
She asked me, "What do you do?" I told her that I was a driver. She was amazed, "A truck driver? You can't be just a plain ol truck driver..."
I will take that as a compliment.
Anyway Opie plans to drive a truck and have bare minimum contact with truck drivers. I think that's a mistake, but to each his own. He will fall right into the slot that so many others do. And make the exact same mistakes that so many other rookies make. Have at it, friend.KriegHund Thanks this. -
And you now proved why some people choose to keep to themselves out there...Opie
And yes i watch "fools" on youtube to "learn the ropes" as you claim. Yes this guy i watch is a fool. Why don't you send him a message telling him that.

It is the path of least resistance.1278PA Thanks this.

I was told when I first started on this path: "As soon as you feel you aren't learning something new every day, it's time to hang up the keys and find another career". Humility is the key to success on the road and I try my best to stay as humble as possible when driving (at all times, not just truck) because the trucking "gods" are fickle and like to entertain themselves when they find someone who loses their humility.
AModelCat, KriegHund, Tonythetruckerdude and 3 others Thank this. -
I'm not one to complain or cut down but this has got to be the stupidest thread subject I've ever seen.
6daysontheroad, Bo Hunt, Cottonmouth85 and 5 others Thank this. -
Jerry Ott of Big Rig Talk inspired me to give OTR a go.
J Cannell is a second trainer to me. A great story teller to boot.
Even now I follow some youtube truckers and what is common to each is their helpfulness and positivity. I'm not interested in watching some driver who wants to ##### and talk ####. I've got my own problems and talk #### all day.1278PA Thanks this.
