What is a good reefer company to start with?

    I was going to start with Western Express a few months ago. I had some unexpected things come up . I had to take of the home front before going on the road. I started re thinking of going with WE. I have my cdl but need a refresher class. Its been 3 years since I got my cdl. I live in southeast Michigan, I'm thinking of driving reefer or flatbed, I would like to drive coast to coast. I have a small dog & my boyfriend that would be joining me on the truck. I plan on moving to Camden, TN within the next 6 months. Anyone have any idea what company or companies I should be checking into? I understand we all got to start somewhere.

    Find a small outfit. You don't want to work for any of those mega companies.

    Western Express is one of those "last resort" type of companies. Not even worth your time if you have a clean record.You might look into Shaffer if you want to run reefer. Can't really beat their pay for new drivers and I know they train. Their nearest terminal to you would be Lenoir City (just west of Knoxville) but they have yard space in Nashville as well.

    Prime is decent reefer company. I drive for Henderson Trucking. We pull Prime trailers. Prime is coast to coast. But I stay mostly in North east region till I go home to Georgia.
