Hello all,
So I was denied today by Jim Palmer trucking due to a cell phone violation 2 years ago. Was a non moving violation and did not lead to any points on my license.
I understand that it is a big mistake I made. I was trying to fix my GPS and got caught by the CHP. I understand it is a severe violation, however she told me I probably don't belong in a truck with a cell phone violation.
Any opinions on this? Do I need to drop the trucking idea due to this ticket?
Thanks
Mike

Wow. That sucks. Not that it makes much difference but was this in a CMV?
I would keep trying other outfits. Many hire with 2 and 3 speeding tickets last 3 years. Sounds like Palmer just about has their equipment filled and plenty of other applications on file.
Good luck and keep us posted.aussiejosh and Puppage Thank this. -
No this was not in a CMV. Was in my car before I even applied for my CDL.
Is a non moving violation ticket a nail in the coffin for my trucking career? Seems like a little over kill. Just want to know if I need to look for another line of work due to this. -
Wow.....maybe u are just better off not working there is they are that picky

It is a bit discouraging to have this be my first interaction with a trucking company. They were very nice until I mentioned the cell phone incident. Told me I need to wait 3 years before I can drive.
This is very confusing -
Most trucking companies with a "recruiter " suck.
Just keep looking....I agree everyone is slow and that let's them be more picky.
So much for the driver shortage .Moon_beam and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
Thanks for the help. Does freight picking up when summer gets here help with hiring?
Thanks for the wealth of info everyone

If it's a non moving violation and it's not on your mvr
Don't mention itstayinback, tscottme, Western flyer and 3 others Thank this. -
A lot of stuff you tell recruiters they might not have even thought about looking into. Don't volunteer negative info unless its public record. -
Unfortunately this comes up on my mvr. My mvr is clean except this. No points and no accidents.
Thanks for the input guys. Maybe I need to wait the 3 years and come back to this.
