I'm baaaaaack!!!!!!!!

The Hot Chick reserved a Mustang for tomorrow.

She had a coupon.

 

Truck should be ready today. Hot Chick told me she didn't really rent a Mustang; it's a sub compact for money reasons.

I hate being broke.

 

I wanna see a good, old fashioned, blood and thunder Kung Foo movie. The kind with the over the top costumes, characters, horrible British dubbing, and acrobatic choreography with plenty of blood spurting out of people's mouths.

 

Teenaged boy (In thick British accent):

HYAARGH! (Points) You killed my father, my brother, my cousin, my uncle, my grandfather, my master, and my goldfish Fluffy! Now, we FIGHT! (Poses)

Old white haired guy (Stroking goatee):

Hmmmmm...(nods and smiles) That's right. I did...kill your father. And so...you know...my Kung Foo...is quite unbeatable. But still (shakes finger) if you mess with me, you're gonna die. That means...you've...got to be...real careful. (Hands behind back) Well, now...(extends right hand, palm up) if you're in a hurry to die (smiles and nods head) then...YOU JUST TRY IT! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! (Glares)

 

My daughter is a junior at a private college, I'm also putting my wife through school, and I'm on a budget that is designed to eliminate 20 years of payments in less than 5 years. I don't plan on dying in debt. A chunk of my debt is to the IRS, and my own student loans.

I'm not broke so much as I'm taking care of business. My daughter's needs and my wife's needs come before my own.

Sometimes I might gripe a little (I want that $&#@!! Corvette!), but I remain content with my choices.

Last couple months I made squat for money, so nobody got paid. Except the grocer and the pharmacist.

 

At hotel. They would have finished my truck today but the part for the bunk heater was wrong and it was too late in the day to get it today.

Got to meet one of my dispatchers and my ops manager today. Decent couple of guys. The dispatcher working today is new at this and acknowledged that he doesn't drive a truck. He asked me to work with him and communicate my needs as a driver, and to help him do his job by doing mine properly. I can respect that attitude.

It helps that I'm a Tier 1 driver.

The ops manager is a 10 year Celadon veteran and gave me some good insights into how the corporation works that I didn't understand before.

Like I've always said--they aren't out to get you any more than they'll go out of their way to help you. You gotta learn your way around within their system and you'll do fine. The friendly conversation I had with the ops manager gave me a good head start on that. Gotta say, things really have changed up in the last year.

I'm tired. It's time to go to bed.
