You know that for a fact, do you? Care to back that up with a code section? If you aren't driving you are under no obligation to carry ID in America, nor do you have to present it upon request. Some states don't even require you to identify yourself verbally, although the supreme Court has ruled that states may require that.

Don't you watch *COPS " ? I'm not going to waste my time looking and pulling the the regs. First of I'm illiterate, and ain't to savy on this electronic devices. I would have a cush nob, pushing pencils in a small cubablcle. That's way I drive a truck instead.
I was stopped one time in my four wheeler, I had my son with me. The LEO asked him for he's I.D., he had forgotten it. The LEO went on rambling about the law states blah blah blah....., so to answer your question, I heard it right out of the horses mouth. ...your turn....

It was not really aimed at you giant. More at the idiot that does not carry ID. Nothing good ever comes of that and it just makes a officer look harder when you cant provide what is requested.

Sorry I should of been more clear then just dot's :)

If I'm not driving, I don't carry ID. No legal reason to. The only people required to carry ID are those who are operating a motor vehicle (driver's license required), carrying a weapon (carry permit required), or foreign citizens (passport, green card, etc.). If you are a US citizen, you are not required to carry identification as you walk down the sidewalk or ride as a passenger in a car. If asked, you may be required in certain jurisdictions to provide your name and date of birth, but that can be given verbally. You are under NO legal obligation to carry identification unless participating in a restricted activity where licenses or permits are required.

I've heard cops spout plenty of bull in my time. Once I also corrected a few by giving them the exact code sections governing something and telling them if there is something else I don't know about I'd love to see it. They tend to stop running their mouths.

Yes. Failing to provide an ID may result in an arrest if an officer is going to cite you for something and feels that he needs evidence of your identity to release you. But if you aren't getting in legal trouble otherwise, you are fine with no ID.

Under number 1 it says no written permission is needed for employees or other persons assigned to the truck by the motor carrier. If you are the motor carrier (owner/op) carry whoever you want and if stopped tell them you assigned them.

I carry whoever I want in my trucks and have never given it a second thought. After all they are my trucks.

The rules don't change no matter who owns the truck you have to have insurance and a letter stating permission for that passenger,

Huh? Maybe if you own the truck and are running under someone else's authority and/or insurance.

My truck is my truck, with my authority, and my insurance. I don't need anything to take whoever I want with me for a ride. I recently renewed my insurance and while they had a million questions a list of authorized passengers wasn't one of them.
