Do any company drivers ever haul cargo on the side off the books for extra money without telling the company about it? Not really talking about contraband but with things like Uship and such it seems it would be easy for a driver with a less than full load to sneak some stuff on his trailer that is along the route and pocket the money.

No I am not thinking about doing this I am not an employee anyway I own my own truck but I was just curious if it was a problem or happened much.

That is basically theft, and any reputable company will righly show you the door for that.

We did some years ago when things were kinda looked the other way.. I wouldn't try it now with things the way they are now. To many rats for the big companies

Oh I agree 100% it is theft but in almost all industries some employees cheat their employers one way or another.

It's theft. Trying to justify it is stupid. You could be terminated for it. You could be charged fuel costs for it. And to be honest, having dealt with U-ship before, it is not even remotely close to worth it.

Yeah, I had a lease guy one time say he was just gonna deadhead home for some reason. He didn't know I was unloading next town over and followed him all the way back home with a load of lumber. I slid up beside him at an intersection in Jasper TX. Hollered on the radio at him to follow me to the yard and I removed the signs, pulled his plate, and cancelled his insurance all in about 30 min.

If you had a cargo claim or acc. while under a (hot) load you might be paying for all claims not just deduct.

Do it on one of my trucks and you will be bounced out of the drivers seat so fast where ever you are by me personally and left on the side of the road.
