Brief time in MI. Enough for laundry and a shower, little bsing and off to bed. Long day to MN tomorrow. It's a late Monday appt time, (11pm) but I'm hoping I can sneak in early, unless Target DC is similar to Walmart DC and they won't let you in any sooner than 1 hr prior.
Worth a shot.
Don't forget we lose an hour tonight/tomorrow.DenaliDad Thanks this. -
I've recently delivered to three different Target DC's and can say none operate the same. The most recent would have accepted me whenever because they assign a parking spot and text you when the door is ready. Then they text you when you're done and can bug out.
I wish they were all like that. -
I hate, hate, hate that hill. In both directions.

Retirement 4+ years ago was the best thing I ever did. Doing so allowed me to build and work on my own "bucket list," part of which includes driving a long-haul truck for a while. I hope your Dad does the same. Not all retirees do.4mer trucker, popcorn169 and Wickedfire77 Thank this.

Time change screwed me up a little. Got as far as Loves at 48 on 90/94 WI. On my way to the target DC in MN.
My dad has been at Detroit Deisel as a skilled trades for 30 years. Often 7 days a week unless it was a holiday or funeral.
He has this year left on the Cba with the UAW, and it looked like a strike was looming , so he took the buyout to keep from the stress and headache of going through another one of those. I don't blame him. He should have retired last year.
Let me cut anyone off who wants to get political and try and drag my family through the mud.
He is the oldest of 8. He helped raise his siblings, down in TN.
Dropped out of school in 8th grade to go work.
Enlisted in the army at 18, went to Nam, was a pow for a short while .
Got out, came home and found my mom . They married and had me . He took the test for journeyman card 3 times before passing. Worked at Ford until layoffs, GM til the plant closed, a foundry to get by, until he got in where he is at.
Injured on the job, twice. Never sued. Just went back to work.
So you "blue collar workers are overpaid bums" people can be silent.
He is grateful for all he has, but he worked his butt off for every bit of it.
End rant. Haters not welcome.RidgeRunner731, 4mer trucker, Lazydog and 3 others Thank this. -
Won't get any hate from me. Just respect for a job well done for your dad.
Wickedfire77, popcorn169 and RERM Thank this. -
Sometimes I really dislike the lack of direct communication I have with planners. The target load was a drop. Now I'm scrabbling to get broker load info. Had I known it was a drop, I would have dropped it last night .

I discovered today that Holland has a Heinze plant. That's where my load of glass bottles goes to for tomorrow night. Then I think I'll take my empty to Ford for my dispatcher. And swing by Dads for my share of Corned beef on my way home. (Wife won't make corned beef and cabbage. She says it stinks up the house too much)
popcorn169 Thanks this. -
I didn't know that either...and I live not far from there. Wonder what lose is Hiding In Holland...Wickedfire77 Thanks this.
