Jack Frost already pretty much summed it up... IGNORE them and they'll go away. Make sure your windows are rolled up and the doors are locked. If they persist, take them on a swift ride up to the fuel island area where there are cameras and people (if you're in a truckstop). If you're out on the road and they won't get off, keep grabbing gearseventually they'll jump off (and hopefully they bust their melon open when they do).
If you do have your window open and they climb on, be blunt right off the bat... "Get the #u&# off my truck!" Do not ##### foot around or attempt to pacify them because it only encourages them to try harder. You gotta learn to be a hardazz out here or they'll eat you up.
I took one particular fellow on a high-speed ride down Fulton Industrial Drive in Atlanta one time. He was pleading with me by the time I hit 10th gear. He finally jumped off as I swung around the corner on the I-20 rampI guess he didn't want to see how fast my truck would go on the big road.
I see from your info that you're 22... that's why they're targeting you... they know you're a newbie. Same crap use to happen to me when I first started driving OTR (I was 26 but looked about 16).
Or hey... you could always get a South African flame-thrower installed. Ya know, like the ones they install on cars there to prevent hijacking.

I had this happen one time in Houston. I was doing my logs with the d/s window 3/4 up and unlocked. I saw this man going truck to truck with some insane preaching. As he walked around the front of my truck, I saw him out of the corner of my eye and as fast and discreetly as I could, I locked the door. He saw me do that so he jumped up on the step and started yelling "What? Are you scared?" I still had the window 1/4 down and he tried to stuff a little book through the crack. I rolled up the window and waved this lunatic off and went back to doing my logs. Avoid eye contact and carry an attitude and youll have minimal run ins with these poor wastes of flesh.

good point. attitude has alot to do with it. do not look like a victim. -
If they're begging, tell them no. If they persist, tell them to get lost. If they don't get lost, let them see your cell phone and the 911 you just dialed and notify the truckstop of an aggressive bum on their property. Sometimes it's a driver asking for help ,so use some sense. You can usually tell.

Is pepper spray legal?? i dont think they make the mace anymore it killed a couple people in the past, thats why the pepper spray, thats what i would use if its legal. wouldnt take much to do the trick either. the foam pepper spray works the best.

Just use windex, and if they try pressing charges, tell the officer that you were mearly trying to clean the inside of your window and just forgot that it was down.
might help.

The experiences mentioned are a GREAT reason to keep your doors locked when your IN the truck weither your moving slowly thru a lot or parked. This is also a good idea when in your own personal vehicle.
Also never put the window down far enough for anyone to slip their hand or arm inside your truck thru the opening.
My dad had a guy in Detroit jump on the truck at a stop light, and refused to get off.....NOT a good thing. If I remember correctly dad said he rolled the window up on his fingers for a block between lights, at the next red light the guy got off...once dad released the pressure.
Tire checking devises are certainly a "dual" purpose piece of equipment!!! -
Never ask them "nicely" to get off your truck. If they're rude enough to jump up there, they are going to be treated that way. As a driver if i ever approached another drivers truck that i needed to ask a question, i always knocked on their door first, i think most drivers give that same respect.
-
Yeah, and if you can't hear each other because of the noise of the trucks, you need to motion them to jump up there. I usually shut off my truck rather than start a shouting match unless I'm sure it's a moocher in which case I give 'em the lazy eye or ignore them.
Unless you're being attacked, these spray ideas ,while sounding really clever and making you feel like Chuck Norris, might get you a major lawsuit. I would do that as a last resort.
Here's an example of not knowing what you're talking about. I'm parked at a truckstop checking out the internet at 10:00 at night. A lady comes up to my window and I'm thinking 'Who's this? A lot lizard?' So I rolls down my window a little getting ready to shake my head and it turns out to be a driver who wants me to pull up a little because she's uncomfortable pulling into the spot next to me. Well,"sure I can" I says, and then I felt like a ####### for being so paranoid. She comes back and thanks me and then I feel like a double#######. -
Hubby shows them his hot shot, and they leave.
