I'm not knocking your numbers. But both drivers would have to pull the same freight, same weight and same route.

He pretty much is explaining that the guy who runs faster has more time to squeeze in more loads and thus get a bigger check. Time(speed) is money, basically the conclusion.

Thats a different story but yes rates would have to be similar, doesnt have to be the same.. have an example of that.

    Comes down to a mindframe.
If i see i can knock out 600 miles by doing two good drop and hook loads in a day I'm not gonna turn it down becuase I'd have to drive fast and get bad mpg to pull it off.

All i was getting at is you dispatch yourself... thus you can pretty much haul as much freight as you want and sometimes it is better to go faster.

Shorter runs pay more per mile yes, but imo thats double the wear on the truck. When you go car shopping, do you look for one that was 100%city driven, or one with highway miles? Same basic principles apply here, again just my opinion.

I've ran a lot of the columbus to indianapolis lane. Sometimes back and forth multiple times per day.
It's about 180 miles each way on a straight shot across i70 with customers right off the interstate.

Please explain to me how I'm getting double the wear on my truck vs someone on long loads through mountains or through the Northeast.

    No..

I was extremely hesitate to even get into this to begin with.
I only had one year experience before leasing a truck.. usually not a good idea.
With that being said I did my homework and lots of it but still it wasn't easy signing a lease on a $150000 truck stepping into something new.

Yeah you pay more to get into a truck through Schneider but they make it easy and offered a 1 year lease which I ALMOST took.
I hate Frieghtshakers but i was moments away from getting one for a year to test the waters.
What broke that deal for me was the extra $1800 I'd have to pay up front for a diesel powered APU. At point that I was like screw it, I'll just pay a little but more to get the KW that I wanted anyways and deal with the longer term. Point/click loads, percentage pay and endless drop and hooks made it too good for me to resist lol.

Btw being responsible for $40,000 in solely truck payments yearly is no joke.

Have you done a PM on your truck yet? And have you had anytime down that you had to pay repairs in?

    Dominick253 Thanks this.

    Yeah a few PMs
I had my clutch fail on me early on. That cost me a week of downtime. Even though Kenworth said it looked like part failure Eaton has been trying still not to pay thus at this moment cost me.

I had my APU go nuts and started shooting fuel all over the place, that costs me to fix but was minor.

Thats about there, there were a few other minor things but were all under warranty.

    Dominick253 Thanks this.
