No..you need to go back and read what i posted...I never said shorter runs...I said you don't need to run high miles...I can make more $$$ running around 2200mi a week than you could 3000+ mi a week..that's what I'm saying..if you think chasing miles on a % program is going to work, knock yourself out because it won't...

We have all these open window appointments, drop and hooks etc. So if you want you could move as much freight as you can in the shortest amount of time.
Ive done 500-600 mile, 3 drop and hook loads in a day before.. i was hauling butt but it was very profitable. If i drove like a Prime truck theres no way i could pull off days like that and I would have left a lot of money on the table.
When I'm looking at the load board i could do 400 miles at a good rate and drive granny style to save fuel or see and say to myself if i haul butt i can earn an extra $200-$300 in a day by hauling butt and squeezing in another load.
So in the real world it can work out and is not BS. I've done it and face it everyday in trip planning and booking loads.
As a dedicated driver or dealing with a dispatcher it might be BS but not here when we have access to thousands of loads to pick from.
Another thing to remember or at least for me is these $1100 week payments don't stop.
If i earned the most money i can in the shortest amount of time then i can afford time off sooner vs being in a truck longer.
That's another topic though.
Not everybody owns a truck here, on a short lease where they know they will not keep the truck many drivers think about saving their brakes and driveline for the next driver that gets in the truck? lol.
That's one reason i didnt go with a used truck.
Yeah yeah there's endless variables i know.
All I'm saying is there's times and ways goes faster pays off big time, sometimes it doesn't.
Can we at least accept going slow isn't always the best answer all the time? That's all i was getting at here.Last edited: Mar 18, 2016

I've had enough of this mph mpg stuff.
Everybody just gotta do what makes them happy. The cool part is there's sooo many different ways to run all by your choice and it can work in all different ways. There's no one size fits all operation for anybody.Dominick253 and HalpinUout Thank this.
