Again, there ARE smaller companies out there that DO hire students straight out of CDL school.

And that's besides the point, you now have over a year experience... So go looking for better options... Unless you are happy where you are at currently.

 

Actually I've been looking for the past month. Looked at Big G,Averitt-unfortunately I'm outside of their hiring area. But I just got word from Marten Transport that they'll hire me.

 

Unfortunately not many ( if any)in my region will because the students have little or no experience. Mind you this was based on my experience when I was in school and also looked at employers other than trucking companies (PFG,Fastenal,Auto Zone just to name a few).

 

Where are you located again?

Seek out Chinatown... He seems to have the pulse of the less than mega carriers.

All joking aside, I have not yet been asked to drive that far into our NE region but looking forward to getting up there in the near future.

 

Trust me, you're not missing much. I only moved here because of my wife (we moved here in 2007,back then she wasn't my wife yet). She wanted to be close to her family plus she was hired by MSP(Massachusetts State Police) but they gave her a deadline on when she had to start.(I'm originally from Illinois and I still have roots there). The things I do for love. lol
