Tariffs will hurt for a while. It's like the tariffs on Chinese tires a few years ago. The price of all tires went up along with the Chinese tires. It was hard to get cheap auto tires for old beater cars. The tariffs were dropped. But, if tariffs are imposed on US companies goods that are mainly sold in the US, the demand will drop, profits will fall, stock market will drop, and things will look and possible be bad for a few years.

Soon the companies will have no recourse but to build factories here so American workers can make enough money to buy the goods. Wages will go up and the price of the goods will hopefully go down as a result, but who knows with the price of stock being the only driving factor these days. Quality and happy employees is a thing of the past, just stock price.

The main problem is getting politicians to stick with tariffs for the long haul. The opposition part will make hay of the economy slow down and inflation, possibly causing the party in charge to lose the next election, and the tariffs will be repealed in order to look good short time. No one will be willing to endure the several years of inflation and a slow economy in order to fix what is broken.

You also have the media that is totally biased. They are on board and blowing smoke up our butts now about how great our sorry economy is, but just imagine what they would be saying is the other party is in charge. Only a few major companies own most everything we purchase, and the same with the retailers. Their stocks are through the roof, they don't want change, and they don't want US employees to contend with, especially union employees.

That's why they are all afraid of Trump. He may just put on tariffs and make a change, and be in it for the long haul until companies are forced to move back. The stupid Sanders people and others that are marching and disrupting can't see that far into the future.

Im not on percentage, nor do i plan to be percentage any time soon. Both my uncle and grandfather did percentage for a while and both got bit in the butt with it. No, that doesnt always happen, but personally i love going wide open. I like putting in the miles. Shame on me for liking that though right?

No shame in doing whatever makes you happy.
I just pulled a load into Florida which makes zero business sense lol but I'm visiting family so if i earn a little bit that's fine by me.
You could go wide open and put in the miles on percentage as well if you wanted to.
For some money aint worth the stress doing different things. I for one won't take a load into NYC or long island no matter what it pays. (Okay maybe $3000 for 100 miles lol)
If you're happy where you're at that's all that matters.
Heck I'm "fleasing at a mega carrier" so shame on me too right? lol

If I wanted to leave Florida tomorrow the best load would put me at $0.64 all miles

Put those taxes away and save your receipts! I've met several guys that made that mistake and ended up with big tax liens!
    Good luck - nice truck!

You're supposedly to pay taxes quarterly. I do but many like to hold onto the tax money till the bitter end. Think there's fines if you do that though.

We're they on percentage self dispatched, or did they run under a dispatcher/load planner? I have never done a lease op, however, I did run reefer percentage as a company dtiver for my first company. Problem with that was they had enough trucks making revenue that they wouldn't think twice about running me on $1.00/mi, sometimes less, to get me back into their hot lanes that made them money...in the meantime, 23% of $1/mi = crap for me! If I got to pick the rates I would run for, no way I would even start the truck for under $1/mi...just saying

Yea their bills are ridiculous. Is that the place that makes you sign 50 times? I had one place I literally had to sign my name on every single page.

    Dominick253 Thanks this.
