Hate to bring a thread back from the dead but swift emailed me today, she asked if I would be interested in a "comfort zone" position. I don't get much information rather then orienatation dates and wanting to know if I'm coming?
-
Does 9 days make a thread dead?
I'm not sure what you are asking.
A comfort zone is an area of the country you would like to work in.
It might be the southern states, pacific northwest or northeast, central states, etc.
I'm straight OTR, 48 states, because I have no 'comfort zone' that I want to remain in.
I have a few uncomfortable zones, but I don't get to them all that often.
So, are you planning to join Swift? -
Uncomfortable zones... Haha. Yep I've got a few of those too. Delivered in the Bronx recently, that was a very uncomfortable zone.
Regarding the comfort zone. You'll be around your home area but probably won't go home very much. Frequent 10's and occasional 34's is my guess. I prefer OTR so I can go home for 4-5 days in a row. -
My home times are between around Inver Grove terminal and Denver.
The next one will in the Sacramento area.
I could make a comfort zone between them, but I really don't like being restricted to a certain area.
They usually get me where I want to take home time within a day or so of when I ask, give or take either way. But it seems they try.
I just hate driving the same roads over and over again.. -
I'm starting Swift school 2 weeks from today. It's actually a local private school subcontracted. Get that ball rolling FireFighter! Let's see who can beat who to the road.
Moosetek13 Thanks this. -
I'm still doing homework on companies but I have the option to go to swift orientation. I need to actually talk to the recruiter cause I don't know any of the good stuff
-
The good stuff, well, the true stuff, might only come from here.
What are you wondering about? -
After you're trainer (mentor) period you go back to a terminal & test out for your own truck. Swift has a sliding pay scale once you go solo (You make more cpm on short routes & less cpm on long routes). This compensates you more when you get a stint of short routes & the wheels aren't rolling constantly. You can find the chart here somewhere, I'm sure someone may have it handy & post it if they're feeling nice. Don't pay any attention to the stickied one...it's outdated & was revised w/ an increase May '15.FireFighter_02 Thanks this. -
