Google "Central States Pension Fund" and you will see the pension fund for the Teamsters is bankrupt.

Exactly Chinatown! All the "old timers" are crying in their beer now! And man can those Teamsters cry! Big scene about working good Friday! Is it a Holiday? Shape? No Shape? Looked at my pay stub from last week, grossed $8000 and change! But only took home, $ 5,753! Pitiful amount for 2 1/2 months Union job, eh? Been in contact with a recruiter for Bynum Transport. I may just go with them OTR.

Bynum has a good reputation. About any hazmat/tanker outfit pays well and the customers are good people to work with.
I worked with a teamster outfit for awhile but couldn't deal with the whining and backstabbing. Those guys kept their cell phones hot yakking with each other about how management is out to destroy their lives.

As for me, I'm trying to find the best situation to obtain my CDL. I really don't want to have to sign on with a traditional starter company.

Ha Ha, Sounds like our 8am Shape meeting this morning! I drove a gas tanker for 8 months back in 2013, better money, company sucked! I like tankers actually, tired of lumping my own freight for $500 a week!

I felt the same as you. I didn't want to go the big truck load company route either. I hear most LTL companies take new hires without cdls due do aging workforce and driver shortages. I'm sure freight traffic in TN is a lot different from Chicago. Is there Conway, Saia, R&L, ABF, or Old Dominiin in your area?

I don't have the money to pay out of pocket for a CDL and I just hear so much BS with starter companies (SWIFT and the like).
