Hey, I could sign with Crete, Roehl, or perhaps some other respectable company - but why?
I figure as a newbie why not sign on with the company eveyone hates the most on this board? That way my next driving positon at whatever carrier will seem like a retirement opportunity!
Thanks for listening.
I can't wait to work for Swift...

With a mentality like that you are liable to go far with Swift.
If you could please explain to the world the rational that goes into taking yourself into a known lion's den. And what steps you have to take to prepare yourself for the screwing you know is coming.
Common sense would tell a person to run screaming from a preordained screwing. But apparently there isn't any common sense left any more. -
Especially since a lot of "respectable" companies won't touch you afterwards.

Brickman Thanks this.

I am getting my CDL from a wonderful techical college here in GA. My trainers are thoughtful, knowledgeable, and have tremendous insight to trucking. Most of the instructors have over a million safe miles.
All have said the same thing: We have students who don't like Roehl, and love Roehl. Students who love Crete, and hate Crete. Love Swift, hate Swift. etc, etc...on down the line.
They said that attitude will depend on whether or not I make it in trucking. Not the company. Getting along with your dispatcher is paramount. No matter the company.
In other words, as a newbie: SHOW UP, SHUT UP, KEEP UP.Trucker Lady 76 Thanks this. -
Its very possible they get a kick back from swift and such
-
Of course they are all sunshine and roses, because as Baack said.... it very probably they get a kick back from Swift. Head hunter type of deal.
HD the reason we are so sarcastic about your naivety is that many have walked before you. Posting very similar to what you have. Many are the folks that after one to 3 months came back and told the forum that they really wish they would have listened to those that told them to stay away from Swift, JB and CRE.
Will you be another notch on the belt? Only time will tell if you heed the advice you are given or not.
This statement is 100% true from them.
If the company is a bad egg from the get go, no matter what you do to please them and get along nothing will work.
So if they are 50% lying to you why would you believe any thing they say? -
If that's the case, then why stop at Swift? Go all out and lease with England.
CenutryClass, Pur48Ted and Brickman Thank this. -
ROFLMAO good advice. Since you are planing on getting screwed go all out at 110% with CRE. -
Brickman Thanks this.
