Have to agree with the above....... you should have probably $3-5000 in cash saved in reserve. You might think getting a new truck with a warranty will be a cure all to zero cash on hand. But we too quickly forget that accidents and #### happens. You could run over some trash in the road and puncture 3 tires, you could have a breakdown and shop takes 10 days to do warranty work because they are so backed up. Regardless, you are still got a truck payment, insurance, etc plus any home bills. It doesn't take much to put someone out of business when they don't have any cash.
And from I've heard, Interstate is not a company that is going to help you out with truck repairs unlike some other companies that do...... Just sayin.

I bought a new truck before I went to Interstate, but I had the money down along with some reserve. Lone Mountain is a decent place to get a truck and is less expensive than regular financing. Their credit requirements are also somewhat lax. This is the way I recommend someone buy a truck. Again, compared to a Quality Leasing zero down and $1 buyout I save $90,000 over the term. If it's the one with balloon payment, it's about $70,000 or more.

You are right about the no help for repairs here. They expect you to have the money for repairs. They offer a maintenance account for you to save money for this purpose. I don't use it.

Agreed....... But one should know, that Quality is a walk away lease. Lone Mountain is not. Lone Mountain is by far the better "deal" financially. $160K vs 250k after the end of your term.

You are correct, Lone Mountain is not a walk away. Something else also, Lone mountain is a lease whether new or used. My new truck is actually a 50 month lease with a buyout paid over another 10 months of the same payment if I decide to keep it or I can turn it in after 50 months if I choose.

Another plus is I can take my truck anywhere, including getting my own authority. The other leasing companies will only allow you to take the truck to authorized companies. I think Quality has a list of about 50.

Another option is a Full Maintenance Lease from the dealership, its a lease and you can buy it at the end of your lease but that's not a very economical decision. I have done some research on doing a Volvo going this route. Approx. $2400-2600/month and $.06-.08/mile maintenance. The maintenance covers everything from oil changes, tires, and light bulbs. Terms are 3 or 4 years. And this was for VNL670 or 780. The monthly cost are not much more than the other options.
I for one, like this option. While it doesn't allow the ownership of a vehicle at the end of the term. But, I continue to have the full tax deduction of the lease payment, and I never have to worry about maintenance and I always have a new truck.
I am aware that some people think this is crazy, but to each their own. I like the peace of mind it provides.

"... and that's all you'll see on the board."

^^^I wanna say "whoa" to that because I'd like to be able to plan out a little further than that, but I guess people are making it work.

It actually does work and when I started here I kind of felt the same way. It doesn't take to long to figure out where the freight will be or how far you may have to deadhead from where you'll be. I just kind of stopped worrying about it.
