Hey I was wondering if anyone can help me. So I recently bought a day cab tractor. It has a eaton fuller ten speed. I noticed that when I'm shifting from the low gears to the high gears it grinds pretty bad. I pre select the gear so I put to the splitter in the top position before I go to high gear. Also it grinds when I'm going to a stop and put splitter down. Any one know what this is. Thanks for our help
Tranny grinds when shifting from low to high gears??

My 13 spd once in a blue moon will grind or make a gear clash noise when going from low to high. It certainly isn't consistent as I can do whole trips at a time and not experience the noise and it only does it from low to high never high to low.
It's been doing this 10 + years as well. My truck doesn't see high annual mileage so it sounds like you are experiencing advanced symptoms of what mine has.
Hope someone has a common cause for this, I'd like to fix it before it gets to where you are. -
Many trucks do that on those 19 and 13 speeds, it gets worse over time, last time I asked my mechanic said it was the slpitter valve.

Check the filter on the splitter valve, might be blocked somewhat...

Ok so talked to the mechanic he said its the syncro. There's two of them one from low to high and one is high to low. Wich ever is grinding replace. But checking air pressure to splitter valve and checking filter on splitter to see if it's blocked like clausland said might be a good idea before I get them replaced. Thanks for your guys help this site is awesome!
Wumbo Jumbo Thanks this.
